I was reading about the Spirit of Aloha dinner show at the Poly and wanted to hear some opinions from people that have been to it. How was the food? The show? Do you think it is worth 2 dining plan credits? Any reviews or thoughts on it would be appreciated. :) Our party will consist of 2 adults no kids and we are planning to go in September. Thanks!

We went in 2004...the show was really good but we didn't like the food at all. It tasted "old" like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for a while or something. Just our experience, maybe that was a one-time thing, or maybe we were just cranky because it was the middle of July... we haven't been back though and don't plan on it either

We did the luau 2 summers ago in June. We did the late seating (thinking it would be cooler), we had front row seats. It was myself, my husband, and my 2 sons who were 14 and 11 at the time. It was HOT HOT HOT!! Even with overhead fans on, we were all sweating like pigs literally. The food was really not that good and we are not picky eaters at all. The girls and guys in the show were very handsome/pretty and all in very good shape but the show was just CHEESEY! I felt like I was watching a Barney show live (it was at that intelligence level)...it was not what we expected. (both of my boys asked if we could leave early) As a matter of fact, we were staying at the Poly in the Hawaii building. The concierge asked me later how the show was...and I was brutally honest with them. I felt like we wasted about 3-4 hrs of time and a lot of money. I learned a valuable lesson. I would not and have not recommended this show to anyone. Its not what its cracked up to be.

I know this all sounds harsh but with at least 15 Disney trips under my belt this was the only place that I can honestly say I was totally disappointed in. It may be ok for some but on a scale of 1-10, we all gave it at best about a 3.

Esmerelda :)

If you never went to the old luau maybe it would be okay but I look at it this way....Hannah Montana with bad food served.
It is just a non enjoyable time.:guilty:

Thank you everyone for your honest opinions. :) I appreciate it. So far I am thinking it might be better to skip it and spend the time and money elsewhere.

JOHO! The food was "eh." The service was horrible. The show? It seemed like it was never going to end! :scared: We are most definitely laid back people at home and on vacation yet all I could think of was, "When will this be over???" :faint:

One-half of the food was OK and one-half of the show was OK...imagine what the other portions were like...

We did it Sept of 07. We hated it. They squished us a party of 6 with a highchair in a table that was for 4. The food was ok, but the show seemed long and kind of childish. Our little ones didn't like it either. This year we did the Seaworld luau and loved it. The food was good and the show was great. But IMHO I would keep my 2 TS.
