I have two TS credits left to use on the dining plan. Can anyone tell me if Mickey's Backyard BBQ or the Spirit of Aloha dinner are worth the credits or should I just squeeze in two other TS meals?? THanks

They both stink!

MBYBBQ is just insane. The characters are only on the dance floor, they do not roam around table to table. The picnic tables are crowded and if you get up, you'll lose yours. Unless you're going with a grand gathering, it's a nightmare. One of us had to bring one child to the dance floor to meet the characters while one of us had to guard the table. Then we had to hit the buffet in shifts. Drinks are hidden in the far corner of the place, you have to search for them yourselves. It's just not worth the headache! :headache:

The Luau is not authentic, the food is awful, and the show is boring. We did it before having children and have no interest returning - with or without the kids.

With two extra meal credits, I'd do the HDDR, Brown Derby, Narcoossee's, California Grill or just order room service (breakfast or dinner). :cloud9:

I am a firm believer in not using 2 credits for dinner, just seems a waste because there are so many nice restaurants for 1 credit. Having put my 2 cents worth, we went to the Spirit of Aloha dinner and paid out of pocket. It was good, I tried it once and I am glad that I did. The only negative thing about it was I went in Dec and it was quite cold out.

I have to agree with the previous posters. We didn't care much for the Luau this past year and found it to be boring. However my kids still talk about Hoop Dee Doo and if we were to do a dinner show again that would be the one we'd do. We thought the show was fun and the food was pretty good too. :thumbsup2

I have to agree with the others. Using 2 for one meal isn't worth it. We went to the Lula in December 07. It was just the two of us. The show was terrible. My husband didn't mind the food but I thought it was terrible. The end of the show when one of the dancers danced with the flames was the only thing I found to be interesting. Otherwise the story line and actors were terrible! We even had perfect seats (front and center).

I am going to agree and disagree with the above posters. I agree that it is usually not the best choice to use 2 TS credits for one of the dinner shows. This is mainly because you are getting Category 2 or 3 seating which is usually in the back or on the side.

However I disagree with those who are saying the Luau is terrible. For every person who dislikes the show or food, there is someone who likes it. I don't think any of the dinner shows could be called terrible. We loved the food at the Luau and the show was fine, certainly not a Broadway-caliber performance but it was entertaining. Most people rave about the HDDR but we didn't care for it. Again, I wouldn't call it terrible but it wasn't for us.

If it would be inconvenient to use the 2 remaining TS credits for two more meals, then I would use them for a show instead of wasting them. If you have younger kids, then maybe the BBQ or HDDR would be a good choice. I would say the Luau is probably best for kids over the age of 6. My daughter was 8 during out last trip and she enjoyed the show and it kept her interest.
