Spirit of Aloha and Hoop de Doo...

We just did both of these last week. Myself, DH, DS12 and DS6. After doing both I asked my family which one they liked better - all said Spirit of Aloha. Hoop de Doo is too much like the old Golden Horseshoe Review in Disney Land. GHR is done during the day and is much cheaper as you order what you'd like to eat and don't have to all pay one price for a meal.

The food at both was very good - the kids preferred SOA because they had additional choices of hot dogs, or PBJ sandwiches (and there was one other thing -but I can't remember what it was!). Both of my boys can be picky eaters and while they did find things they liked to eat at HDD, they liked having a choice.

We all enjoyed both of the shows and think that they are both very well done!

There have been some other posts about Spirit of Aloha...basically it's based on one of the local girls that went away to the big city, returning home to visit. They did Hawaiian Roller Coster from Lilo & Stitch and also had several segments about the different traditional dances from other islands such as Tonga, Fiji, Samoa (my boys LOVED the Samoan fire dancer) and Hawaii. They also recognized anyone with a birthday and any other special occasion such as newly weds or anniversaries and had them come forward and dance.

The dinner started with salad (with a mardarin orange dressing), fresh pineapple, and coconut hawaiian sweet bread. The main course was chicken and ribs with rice. It's all you can eat. My younger son requested the peanut butter and jelly sandwich. He was still hungery after than so he also had hot dogs! Desert is a chocolate volcano cake which is very good! The servers were very friendly and did a great job too.
