do members still get $10 off their flights when they join, the regular flight price? I was a member, but then let it expire. I can't find that anywhere, so I am thinking that it is a benefit that no longer exists...anyone know?

The Spirit $9 Fare Club doesn't automatically give you $10 off the flight/seats, but there are usually offers (lately, anyway). If you join again, you'll save on the baggage fees, and the membership is good for one year.

Only selected flights are eligible for Spirit's $9 club prices. Not all flights are eligible.

I understand all that. When I was a member before, I remember that wheyn you book your first flight after becoming a member, you got something like $10 off if it wasn't a special fare, so it made sense to join, because really you got your money back right away. I am assuming since no one has any idea of what i am talking about, that benefit no longer exists.

I joined as a member just a few weeks ago and there was no mention of $10. I got a great airfare but feel like I was nickle and dimed with the added expenses. I can't complain, it was still cheaper than other airlines I priced.

Yes, they nickel and dime but still got a deal. Round trip from AC-MCO for 350.... includes 2 bags each way, three seats both directions... sad airfare was 114---taxes and fees 112 and then extra charges made up the rest!

still about 115 a person round trip... allows for an extra unplanned trip:banana:

I am also from NJ and was looking into leaving from AC. The flights this morning are cheapest I've seen and best times on travels days. I am afraid; however with the extra fees, it would come out same or more to/from. What were your extra costs incurred? Also, they aren't listed with Disney Magical Express - how do you handle bags, airport check-in etc. Please advise since I'm still debating leaving out of AC instead of PHL.

Need help choosing!:confused3

We use Spirit all the time out of AC. The airport is much smaller than PHL and convenient. We get our own luggage at baggage claim and take it with us to the ME bus. It is stored under the bus. When we check-out, we take our luggage with us and again, it is stored under the ME bus back to the airport.

Other than luggage fees (now reduced to 40 lbs. without an additional fee), is seat selection. DD and I want to sit together and will not chance it when we arrive at the airport for seat assignment. We don't purchase beverages on the plane. We buy something to drink at the shop to take on the plane (after we go through security) and also bring our own snacks in a carry-on bag. You are allowed a free carry-on IF it fits under the seat. Otherwise, there's an additional fee for that, too.

I fly out of AC all the time too. I have runt the numbers many times and looked at many different airline out of Philly and also Airtran out of AC. I can not beat the cost of flying SPirit out of AC even with the additional fees. Airtran was close but it is not non-stop out of AC. I love AC airport and have not had issues with Spirit, even when everything doesn't go perfectly.

We have flown Spirit many times..... but when the dropped the luggage max to 40 lbs.....that was the last straw. Heck, my luggage is almost 10lbs. empty. And their seats are soooo cramped and do not recline at all any more. That 2 1/2hr flight had us all cramped up before we ever started our vacation.
We did renew with Spirit in Dec. and no mention of a $10 first time booking credit.

We booked Airtran for our Sept. 2011 trip and prolly will not go back to Spirit.

I just booked for my Sept. trip with Spirit.:cheer2: Locked in at $360.R.T. for 2 adults, all taxes & fees included. I think I did good for a flight from A.C to Orlando.:thumbsup2Jet Blue wanted almost $600!
There is a special now, $35OFF R.T. pp. with that code for certain months.:yay:
Just have to decide how much luggage to bring, then pay for that at a latter time.
