Can anyone post thier experiences with Spirit Airlines? I'm considering a flight from LGA to Ft. Lauderdale.

I've never flown them before...

I flew on Spirit Airlines back in the early 2000's, and it was kind of a weird experience. I mean, it was a flight.. a 2.5 hour flight, that is, from Chicago to Orlando. But the flight attendants were dancing and singing toward the end of the flight. I was only 12 or 13, and I was kind of traumatized.

Sorry I don't have more information!

We've flown Spirit out of Atlantic City to Orlando a couple of times. The flight was fine, but their customer service isn't the best. They double charged me for luggage and I actually had to dispute the charge with my credit card to get it resolved.

I worked for a different airline (Delta) and I still bought Spirit tickets because it was so much easier.

It's an "ala carte" airline. You pay for everything that you do.

You want a carry-on bag, you pay. You want a Coke, you pay.

The seats are TINY. Sardine can, literally. They make regional jets sound NICE.

BUT... I have only been delayed once, and I have never paid more than $89 for a ticket anywhere.

Customer service SUCKS, but you get what you pay for, and I wi take cheap fares over flight attendants and gate agents that kiss my... Well, you know.

We too fly out of Atlantic City on Spirit...just your basic crowded flight, nothing fancy for sure, but gets you there.
You can get some great deals ($9 fare club, $39 fares also) if you join their club.

The last flight I took with Spirit there was a mom who had brought 6 kids, all hers on the plane. And the entire flight from Fort Lauderdale FL to Chicago O'Hare these kids were, loud, extremely obnoxious, ran up and down the aisle of the plane, screamed, cried, just plain didn't stay in their seats, stole my shoes, i-pod, sweater, and when I nicely asked the flight attendants to intervene on the un-ruly behavior of the kids I was just plain ignored and laughed at. I will never fly with Spirit again.

Ugh. Bottom of the barrel airline.

Horrible customer service, fees galore, old equipment. Yuck.

If they were the only reasonable option, I might suck it up and deal, but if there are other option in the same price neighborhood--even if it's a little bit more--I would avoid Spirit.

Well, they left my brother stuck in a jam.... he was supposed to get a flight home from Myrtle Beach, and they canceled it. He came home the next day. Oh, and they were almost 90 minutes late getting him to MB.

I have taken then 2 -3 times with no issues.

My only problems with Spirit have been that they randomly change flight times. My January return flight has been changed from like 2:40 pm to 9:38 or something ridiculous like that. No non-stop in-between flights.

If it wasn't for the cost and the convenience, I'd never fly them.

We just flew them in August and didn't have any trouble. Plus we booked before they charged for carry ons so that saved us some $$ too.

But I agree with the PP. The flight attendants are somewhat "weird". We were instructed to clap for some woman who was the last to board after not answering the page to get to the gate. We weren't late, they wanted to depart EARLY. But the website is weird too. They have some advertisements that can have double meanings to adult type stuff.

Anyway, bottom line for us was book the cheapo flights with them or not go on vacation - so we booked with them. Would do it again.

If you don't expect bells and whistles and just want to get from Point A to Point B, you won't be disappointed. And yes, the regular seats are TINY, but I find most airlines (and concert venues) are like that now anyway.

I've flown them twice to WDW. No problems at all. Just booked another trip to the world. Round trip for four people was about $865. Of that, $80 was to choose my seats so I could sit with DS(5) & DS(3) and $168 was for checked baggage. We are taking small backpacks so we don't have to pay for carry-ons(this is an inconvenience with the kids).

I didn't like Spirit at all. They cancelled our last flights 3 months before we were to fly during spring break. Then we had to fight to get our money back. I will never fly them again.
