You get what you pay for on Spirit. We've flown them three times round trip and I won't go out of my way to fly with them again, no matter how cheap they are.
We always tried to get the first flight to Orlando (out of Detroit)and the last flight out of Orlando to Detroit. The first flight to Orlando isn't bad as everyone is fresh for the day. The last flight out of Orlando is BRUTAL. Unless it's changed, the flight comes in from Puerto Rico or something (can't recall at the moment). Each time the plane has been filthy, including our seats covered in garbage, peanut shells, etc. NO effort made to clean up anything by the flight attendants.
The last flight we took out of Orlando was the worst. The seats are very close together. My husband and I both had wire marks on our knees from the seats ahead of us. There were two rows of empty seats in the back but one FA refused to let anyone move as they wanted to keep their luggage there for the flight. One couple had a sick baby that threw up all over the floor.
"Well that's just GREAT isn't it?" was one comment we heard.
The FA's were rude and could care less about anyone. When the plane landed in Detroit, their comment was a VERY sarcastic "Oh and thank YOU for such a wonderful flight home." to which the other attendants laughed. Sitting at the back where they all were, I didn't find it all that funny myself.
One flight out of Myrtle Beach had two male FA's talking about the one female FA they were working with, how she was this and that and the language was not what i wanted my kids to hear.
If it were one time, okay, I can see having a long day and just wanting to get home, but three times? Nope. It's poor customer service plain and simple. Was it worth the $59 flights? In hindsight, no. AFter we paid for the flight, the seat assignment, the baggage, the exchange rate and travelling to Detroit, it was NOT worth it.
