I was wondering if anyone has used Spirit to fly out to California. I was hoping to take a trip out to DIsneyland, however the rates are terrable. $500 plus.:sad2: Is this normal? I picked the month of December, which I know here is Disney World, is considered, off time. (well early in the month anyways lol). Or is it the fact that I'm coming across the whole USA, why it's so expensive.
Thanks ahead, for any infor,
Kerri

and you could fly United out of Philadelphia for around $344 r/t the first week of December to LAX. You might want to check there and check AC if you are far enough south to make it convenient.

Also, if you want to wait a couple of months, you could try Southwest.

If you're flying to California to visit Disneyland, be sure to consider alternate airports in the LA area. John Wayne Orange County Airport (SNA), served by most major airlines, is the closest airport to Disneyland, and it's a very pleasant airport. Long Beach (LGB), served primarily by JetBlue, is another good choice. Los Angeles International (LAX), a huge airport, sometimes has intense fare competition, and sometimes it doesn't. Also, check the fares into little-known Ontario Airport (ONT). At one time or another, any of these airports could have the lowest prices.

If you're willing to drive further (around 100 miles each way), you should also check San Diego (SAN) -- especially if you also want to stay in San Diego County for a few days to visit some of San Diego's wonderful attractions.

Finally, unless you traveling around the Christmas holidays, don't rush into buying your tickets. Sign up for fare trackers at airline websites and travel websites. Watch for sales and fare wars. Then grab tickets that provide the right combination of price and convenience. Don't worry about getting the very lowest fare ever offered, but don't rush into paying too much either.

HI! I am also from South Jersey and I have been checking spirit since March and they have only gone up! They went from $225.00 one way to $275.00 now at $330.00 for one way which would be $660 with out taxes and fees! They are NUTZ! We are flying the end of OCT and returning in begining of NOV! I have a friend who booked spirit in Feb! And got roundtrip for apprx $183- I guess my timing was bad! Off by not even month and missed those fares! I would look into Southwest or Airtran! There is also another carrier that flys out of phila called USA3000 but they only fly on certain days each month! That's the only downfall but if you can adjust you're trip to fit into there schedule you can get a great deal! apprx $150. roundtrip! Also southwest only books 5 months out so my fares let alone your's are not yet released! The current specials are up today so hopefully tommorrow they will have new ones or open up new dates they should open up new dates by at least may if not the end of April! :)

It's been my experience with Spirit that their fares go up as the flights fill up, so for whatever reason those flights probably already have a lot of people booked on them.
