Spirit Air 24 dollar fares

So Spirit released 24 dollar each way fares for Dec from DTW to MCO fo anyone looking for a good fare.

It was only for 24 hours and that was the discount code you needed to put in it is now gone and they are running a 48 dollar fare through the end of Dec it has to be booked by June 2nd.

How does Spirit Air compare to Southwest Airlines? Being a discount Airline, what are Spirit's "quirks" - are they late, do they lose your luggage etc?

We live near Toronto so we could drive to Detroit or Buffalo although Detroit is a few hours further away. We would do it for a cheap fare though!

Honestly when we flew Spirit there was no problems at all other than the weather but my in laws fly Spirit to Florida all the time and they have never had a late flight or lost luggage yet in about 10 flights. The flights tend to get in to Florida early and are always on time leaving. They just booked for Oct for 209 dollars return for the 2 of them.

We flew Spirit this past March and had no problems at all....other than weather too when we landed in Detroit. We had an excellent pilot as we were landing in a severe snowsquall but he was great! I would fly with them again without hesitation.

We fly Spirit all the time and have never had a problem. But they have made some changes to their luggage policies. I'm not sure exactly, but I think you have to pay for each piece individually. The 1st piece is $5, the second piece is $25, but they can't guarantee that they can take 2 pieces. Checkout their website for a better explanation. But it sounds to me like they're going to nickel & dime you now.
