This is a spinoff of that Easter basket thread because it made me curious about what you lovely Disers are putting in your kids' baskets.

In years past I have gone all out and Easter was like "second Christmas". I'd buy bikes and expensive toys that were too big to fit in baskets. This year I decided that my kids have enough stuff and I decided to fill their baskets with candy and chips and just give them each a couple of board games. I still spent too much money but not as much as I've spent in years past.

My kids are grown, but I haven't been able to give up on giving them something yet.
DS19 is receiving 3 paperbacks on his Amazon wish list.
DD21 is receiving a book on calligraphy and set of calligraphy pens (markers?) that she also asked for a few weeks ago.

Those are really thoughtful gifts! I love that :) But now I have mommy guilt for not giving my kids awesome stuff like that.

Part of my motivation for only giving my kids consumable stuff is that last fall we moved for the second time in 3 years--I'm sick of packing and unpacking all our crap!

Well, both of mine live somewhere else, so they have to deal with storing or packing the stuff. lol

My son doesn't have much interest in junk food. And my daughter has been actively trying to shed a few pounds before a family beach vacation in May, so I knew she would be annoyed if I gave her any treats. So, purely "stuff" this year.

When they were younger, I always filled their baskets with fun summer stuff (nothing big, things like swim goggles or bubbles or sidewalk chalk or frisbees or summer clothes or a beach towel or whatever) and Easter candy. It's gotten harder now that they are adults... I keep giving them something, but I'm sure the day will come when I won't do anything...

Ooh, that was one of the games that I considered! Have you played it before?
Never. I’ve never even heard of it. I just followed the trail of chocolate eggs from my kids rooms (they’re still sleeping) to the treats downstairs. :rotfl:

My husband bought all the treats and the game and put everything out while we were all sleeping. He’s a good egg. :tilt:

Down to one basket this year for dd17 from 4.

Oldest is 24 and married. Next 2 are at college and not home this year.

All were here for dinner last year and all got Easter bags plus dil.

Weird to only do for 1 this year. I did put $50 in our 2 boys at college checking accounts and sent them a text that the EB had left them a surprise egg in their accts.

Back to daughters basket. Mostly all chocolate as she asked. Gold Brick eggs, Hershey kisses, heavenly hash- strawberry, pecan eggs, Cadbury caramel eggs, Russell Stover solid chocolate bunny.

In the past, I've put little debbie snack cakes and lunch type packages of oreos, chips, cookies, etc.

Never big gifts or stocking stuffer items. Always something edible that they didn't get otherwise.

DS is 18, but I still do a basket as well. :goodvibes My mom did one for me all through college and any time I was home for Easter, too.

This year, he's getting (when he finally wakes up - I kind of miss the early-morning egg-hunt days):

various candies - chocolates, Pez, gum, Skittles, cotton candy, jelly beans (including a "Bean Boozled" game)
other goodies - Nutella, Pringles, Slim Jims, cashews, cream soda
a T-shirt (lining the basket instead of Easter grass - a tradition dating from my own childhood)
a Nat'l Geographic magazine on animals (relates to his recently-chosen college major)
a plastic moose (also relating to location of recent college choice)
a "money bunny" - looks like a chocolate bunny, but it's plastic and filled with cash

The kitties have already had their "baskets" - new food bowls with a package of treats and a new catnip ball in them.

I’m not really into Easter anymore now that my kids are older and there’s no morning egg hunt. I’ll be lucky to see another face before noon. I ran into Walmart quick to grab something last minute yesterday. Ds 19 is getting a $50 gas card and a small bag of candy. My dds ages 12 and 16 are getting $50 gift cards for the mall, a pair of flip flops and a few candy/chocolate items, not much at all this year.

one basket filled with bags of candy and
eggs filled with various amounts of money for each of my sons and wives to pick

I didn't fill baskets for the grands as their parents will do that. I did buy them clothes and for my 2 yr old grandson a bubble lawn mover and some various balls.

Happy Easter everyone! :daisy:

I kind of stopped doing big Easter baskets a few years back. May throw some stuff together, few fave treats plus a gift card and cheapy earbuds (they always need new earbuds). My kids are 22, 20 and 20. This year I mailed a box of treats to DDs at college about 2 weeks ago. I am at my mom's (I live in NC, mom is in MD and DDs-20 go to college in PA) and DDs drove in on Thursday. My mom picked up some treats for a basket and I got 2 Target gift cards with my CC rewards points so I added them and picked up a t-shirt for one DD and a pack of socks for other.

Their fave treats are:
Starburst jelly beans
PB cup eggs or some sort of choc PB item
twizzlers or gummies or blow pops (some fruity item)
Mary Sue choc egg or a Lindt gold bunny
And I throw that little pack of mini Cadbury creme eggs in but not all 3 of my kids liked them so I got to eat some

:thumbsup2 Ours is 22 and I don't imagine we'll change our pattern any until he's out and away. We don't make a fuss about the Easter bunny.
It's a religious observance for us and the most sacred day of the year, but SO joyful - why wouldn't we celebrate?
party: Our big thing is the feast but we also do treats - the same type of things DS has always received. No toys or gifts but a big communal pile of chocolate, candy eggs, jelly beans and Peeps - can't forget the Peeps!

Happy Easter everyone - He has risen indeed!! :wave2:

First year doing 2 baskets, one for DD12 and one for DD 6 months. DD12 basket had 4 tsum tsum (she collects them), summer pjs, Google play gift card, reese's peanut butter eggs. She also enjoys doing an egg hunt. The eggs had jelly beans, robins eggs inside and the special golden egg had a Disney pin. DD 6 month basket had a teether toy, rattle, play TV remote, plastic elephant plate and bowl, minnie mouse bibs, and minnie mouse onesie.

This is a spinoff of that Easter basket thread because it made me curious about what you lovely Disers are putting in your kids' baskets.

I had always done baskets with candy and a spring time activity maybe crazy socks or something simple. Last year for the first time both kids chose not to have a basket. This year I didn’t ask. They are now 16 and 13. My ASD son (16) doesn’t like chocolate or much candy so I gave him slim Jim’s, airheads Extreme, Five WWII movies, and an amazon gift card. My ADHD daughter (13) LOVES candy so she got the chocolates and jellybeans and the skateboard she had asked for for her birthday (which isn’t until August).
