What have you seen at the resorts in terms of wildlife (again, not the people - that a whole other thread!)

We love seeing the deer on the path between WL & Ft. Wilderness.

I swear one night I was standing next to an armidillo before it scampered into the woods at Ft. Wilderness. It happened so fast though that I'm not entirely sure... Are there armidillo's in Florida?

Any really cool wildlife sightings?

While staying at FW, we saw lots of peacocks and bunnies, and two really HUGE chipmunks who could do the hokey-pokey! :D

The deer just off the path between FTW and WL is also a favorite of mine. The first time I saw it, I thought it was just a fluke. Then I saw them a couple more times on the same trip.

We saw an the villagator at BCV and an alligator at the MK in the water surrounding Tom Sawyer's island.

We've also seen deer along the side of the road at night and early in the morning driving between MK and Epcot resorts and AK and Epcot resorts.

We saw a lot while staying at Ft. Wilderness campground. Bunnies, ducks, chipmunks, peacocks..(like the one in my siggie)

The ducks would come to our campsite everyday to eat right out of our hands.

Yes - I was surprised to see armadillos in FLA as well. Unfortunately, most of those I've seen at WDW have been roadkill - so sad.
Once, while checking out our room at GF, I noticed something on the floor in the bathroom. It was a tiny frog the size of a pencil's eraser!! Literally! I could not believe how small it was! We put him outside and he was much happier :sunny:
Last Spring Break, while descending the ramp from the monorail into MK, DD and I saw a GIGANTIC snake in the fenced-in garden area to your right (wrought iron fenced-in). It slithered under one of the thick bushes out of sight. Those who saw it were in shock:earseek: - it was like something Jeff Corwin would wrestle with in the Amazon!!

We saw a ton of little bunnies at Pop Century in December!:Pinkbounc :bounce:

A few years back we stayed at Dixie Landings (which is now Port Orleans Riverside) and we moved out of the room after just one night because of those little gecko lizzard-like things. UGH!!! They were everywhere, on our sidewalks, on our windows and I swear they were in our beds too!!! They really weren't in the beds, just my overactive imagination. Anyhow, I called the front desk and insisted they get an exterminator. The CM politely laughed and said "Maam those little guys are everywhere in Florida and they are harmless." I didn't care if they were harmless or not. I don't like them, so we packed up all our stuff and moved into the Contemporary Resort. The staff at DL was very helpful in our move and the upgrade was not very much.

We have since stayed at CSR and we were greeted each morning by little green frogs and tiny brown toads. Again, I don't like these critters, so I made my DH go out the door before me each morning and clear my path to the bus stop or food court.

I'm just a big baby!!! I don't like creepy crawly things!!!

It's funny - I saw more wildlife at POR than I did having a savannah view room at AKL. lol

We saw an armadillo at the POR and tried to get him to come
out of hiding and he just stayed in the bushes and refused to come back out. We must have scared him to death.

We love the Gecko's and the kids like to catch them. We saw a large turtle crossing the road on the way to MGM once. A CM was trying to hurry him across.:D I would love to see the 'villagator '@BCV
:p

We love those little lizards, I think they are anoles!!! We always watch for them, and get a kick out of the way their throats wiggle when you get close!!

Re: armadillos, our MO Conservationist mag. says that armadillos have habit of jumping straight up in the air when surprised. This contributes to their demise, as when a car runs over them, they jump up and "smack", it's all over!!:(

......on our many trips!

We saw a few armadillos at Coronado Springs - one running into the bushes outside our Cabanas building, and another crossing one of the roads.

We saw CMs catching a big ol' black snake out of a tree by the gift shop at Ft. Wilderness - they were putting it in a big bag - hopefully to release elsewhere?

We love the little lizards everywhere!

My favorite "animal memory" at WDW is the mama duck and her babies swimming around Stormalong Bay - so cute!

I've seen lots of gecos and I saw an armadillo last week at All Star Music. It was so cool!

Aside from the animals at AKL ... :p We've seen ducks, bunnies, white birds with long thin yellow beaks (I'm not sure what they're called) and grey squirrels. The squirrels look funny to me because they're so small compared to the squirrels we get in our backyard. They're more like the size of a red squirrel :p

In 2001 we stayed at the Disney Institute in one of their Bungalow rooms and we were greeted every morning by a family of ducks. They came right up to our sliding glass doors. They were so cute.

Lots, just like everyone else on the board here, including a huge Turtle back in the 70's in the canal around the Castle at MK.:o Also, bunnies at Sports and Music and Squirrls at PC!

This is kinda gross but last august when we were @ WL. We were relaxing by the pool one afternoon when a group of kids started screamin at the bush. Everyone went over to look and a BIG! snake was swallowing a little bunny whole.

CM's were called and they managed to get the snake into a BIG bag and took it away.

We saw TONS of armadillos everywhere we went, lots of birds outside our room at POR and one dead frog on the bridge to the Baby Center at Epcot. It was cold in January and the poor thing probably froze to death.

We saw him too! He ran in front of my fiance and she screamed and scared him away, before I could ask him if that suit of armor got hot in the summer. :earsboy: :earsboy:
