Any one here have one or know some one with one would love to hear your stoires i have my trial stimulator put in Monday July 27 .. very scared...
all ready had two lower back surgeries hoping for less pain ...
thank you:surfweb:

I have a friend that had one implanted years ago during a trial for them. I think he has since had it replaced. Overall it helps with his pain greatly. He was a good candidate. He does set off airport metal detectors and he carries a card for that. I also remember something about the magnets used that erased his CC magnetic strips.

Is yours a trial to see how you do or will it be permanently implanted? I do recall his procedure wasn't bad at all and he was only uncomfortable for a few days afterward.

I wish you the best relief and results possible!

BTW - I had a 360 lumbar fusion a few years ago. Was wondering why you are in need of a SCS. No more surgeries will help?

thanks for the info , if this doesnt work then they are going to fuse i was trying to avoid that .. they said i have a good chance this may help .. first trial for a week if it works then perm will be put in. mine is lower lumbar L3L4L5 AND S1

I am still out on it. I have three friends with them, two had them removed.
Body size was a issue for the thinner person. Placement on the back, hurts, THe other was in the stomach area, and for cervical issues. That person has a morphine pump put in. nerve damage, not just disc.

I understand that for nerve damage they are suppose to interupt the pain signals.

My son's PM wants to implant SCS, and I told him, really think about it as a last resort that quality of life is affected. He has medication, the scs is not a cure, just exchanging one pain for another for him.

Those with irritractable pain find relief. But at that point I would prefer him to have the pump implant to save on the liver.
If the trial really helps, you could find your answer. If it is not what you are comfortable with, then avoid the surgery for now.

Watch the videos, see if a patient can share with you, and the trial is just that.
Good luck what ever you decide,
