Spin off: Why do you have piercings and/or tattoos?

I have 3 holes in each ear and 4 tattoos.

The ear piercings are all from when I was a kid...

The tattoos I love (all but one anyway). They are very descriptive of me and my personality and are beautiful artwork. I love them

I have 3 holes in my right ear and 2 in my left. I got my bellybutton pierced for my 45th birthday. I want to get a Tinker Belle tattoo sometime in the next couple years. I definitely want it by the time I turn 50.

I got my bellybutton pierced before my DD got hers. She had wanted one, and then never got it done. I got mine done and a year later, she went to visit her real father and came home with one.

I have 2 piercings in each ear. I had my belly button pierced, I had lost a butt ton of weight, but I took it out. I didn't really like it as much as I thought I would. I have 6 tattoos.
1- dolphin, I got it when I was 17, dolphins, I love them.
2- is a butterfly on my back (not a trampstamp, but on my back) it is when I lost a butt ton of weight also.
3- on my left foot, its a butterfly with wording, ONE STEP AT A TIME, I got that one after leaving my fiance. Because well things will get better one step at a time.
4- is a 4 leaf clover
5-is a butterfly on the top of my left foot(this one HURT!!!!!)
6-is 2 stars in my left ear.

Tattoos are so addicting.
I want to get 5 falling stars behind my left ear.

Seriously I did them because I wanted to. I actually got annoyed when friends would "follow me" and pierce what I did or the like just because I did. I would pierce more if I had more room to do so but I don't. I have a few piercing locations I hate myself so that's why I am "out of space" None are on my face though.

I don't have any truly visible tattoos either. I can choose to show off but most of the time I do not.

I do believe that while I was a professional I should keep things to a minimum and in places that aren't easily seen.

I have 11 piercings and would do more if I could. I believe both tattoos and piercings can be very addicting.

I have 3 holes in each ear. I always wear studs in the top two holes. Sometimes I wear earring in the bottom holes.

I had my nose pierced in 1991. I thought it was very cute and it was certainly different. Hardly anyone was doing it at that time. However, I got real tired of being asked if I dated a certain race by all the ignorant rednecks around here.

I don't have any tattoos.

DH had a large tatoo on his shoulder when we were dating. He has 2 wolves howling at the moon. It is about 18 years old. He got another one about 8 years ago that is a tribal band around his arm--all the way around-which his says hurt really bad.

Now back to me. My parents were always cool and daddy always rode a motorcycle. My mama always wanted a tatoo but women back in the 60's just didn't get them. We used to talk about what she would get if she ever dared growing up. Fast forward to dating DH--after several months of dating--he knew I liked them--thought they were sexy. So we went to see his artist that did the wolves, just to show me the shop. I found a Lion's head that was just perfect. Just the face and mane, with green eyes. DH told me I needed to think about it. So I waited about 3-4 months and told him I was ready. I have never seen another tatoo that I love like this one. He paid for it and it reminds me that we are a lot alike. We have been married now for almost 15 years.

It is on my shoulder blade and is a little faded but great. I had a very formal wedding and it made a beautiful addition to the V cut back of my dress. Just something special and lasting that DH and I did together. My mother loved it!

Had my ears pierced for my bday in 5th grade--never healed, stayed infected, let them grow up. Wanted to wear earrings as an adult--so I had them repierced at about age 30. Just one hole in each ear--they healed fine.

Two holes in each ear, that's it. I got the first when I was about 9 and the second when I was 15. Back then, a second ear piercing was almost scandalous! My mother was furious, which of course, was half the fun!

I wanted a tattoo when I was younger but there were no shops anywhere near where I lived and at that time girls just weren't getting them. Now that they are soooooooo mainstream I have no interest in getting one anymore. Truthfully, I'm kinda sick of seeing them on everybody.

I have my belly button pierced (got it done when I was 18). I still think it's cute but it is annoying when it gets caught underneath the flap of my pants at work (it's a barbell type) and pulls. I still really like it and glad I got it (but it sure did hurt getting it done!). I have two tattoos (one small one on my top right shoulder ~2 small tribal butterflies~ and one on my lower back~a small tribal bird). I'm sure I could make up some sort of significant story about them but really there isn't. I thought (and still think) they were cute designs and I figured if I was going to get any tattoos I wanted them in places where I could see them if I wanted and when I'm 80 and wrinkly I never have to see them again . I don't believe the saying though of once you start getting tattoos you never want to stop. I don't want anymore and I had my last one done 4 years ago. I'm not a fan of name (even kids names) or things that you're into type of tattoos. I like to have a tattoo that someone (who likes tattoos in the first place) would look at and say "that's pretty" and not "wow, you're into the red sox. congratulations"

Oh and I have both ears pierced three times. Don't know why, I never, ever, ever wear earrings in the 2nd or 3rd hole (they're still open though, every once in awhile I check ). Just something I went and had done (and thought was cool) as a teenager.

Not knowing whether you would want it in 4 years is good reason to wait till you are 18.

Can you get old tattoos touched up or re-inked to brighten the color?

I have my ears pierced and that is enough for me. My DD has had her Labray (sp?) done but got rid of it because it was destroying her gums. She pierced her own eyebrow which was profesionally redone and se never wears that one anymore either. She also has a 4-leaf clover tattoed on her hip, a star on her big toe and someting with angels and DGS's name on her shoulder. Her DF has more tattoos than I can count. They have grown on me but I don't want any.

I have pierced ears because I wanted them when I was 7 and still do. I have an extra hole in my left ear because I wanted that when I was about 19 or so, but I rarely wear anything in it, and I believe the hole that I had up high in the cartilage in my left ear has long since closed up.

I have most of my tattoos because I was young and impulsive. The last one I got I had done in Oct. 2008 and I wanted it to commemorate an awesome year that I'd just had.

I let DD get her septum pierce last year. She was 17 then. The good thing about the septum ring is that you can flip it up and no one will know you've had anything pierced.

2/ Snake bites. (two lip piercings) A year ago.
3/ Ears gauges (7/16) Working on it for 4 years now.
4/ Eyebrow. Just recently gotten this done. Today actually.

I've gotten these because,
The thrill of the needle going through my body makes my adrenaline rush.
Plus I love the way studs/rings/etc look

As for tattoos.
I have one on my ankle.
I got it because it expresses my lifestyle.

I only have pierced ears, but I don't mind the sight of other piercings (unless they're many and extreme, but that's just me). I don't have any tatoos. I wouldn't mind having one, but it would be small and of significance to me.

I'm just curious as to why you got your piercings or tattoos. I know some people think people get them for attention, and I'm sure there are some who do, but I'm wondering about other reasons for getting them.

The first tattoo I got was of particular meaning to me. The next four were just a matter of taste, I think. I like tattoos, they make me feel different, special. I like the way they look, I like to think I have chosen them carefully and I have chosen their location. Sometimes I feel like I am imporving my body with something I really like.

I don't have piercing anymore, I had an eyebrow piercing once, because I found it cool. I got rid of it because I found it uncomfortable. I am proud of my tattoos and I am going to get more.

My ears are pierced, one hole in each. I'm sensitive to jewelry so that's probably all I'll have done. If I can lose this extra weight, I might pierce my belly button. I really wanted to do it at 18 but it was too expensive.
I don't want any tattoos. They're too permanent!

I've had my ears pierced since I was 4, got my 2nd holes in high school.


My belly button is pierced. I was drunk. No other reason. I have however, never sobered up so fast in my life. It was a tattoo parlor and they commented they had never heard words like the ones coming out of my mouth there before.
It totally grosses me out and I cannot even take it out. I had to remove it for surgery once and they did it for me after I was out. I told the nurse to throw it away but another nurse put it back in for me. The thought of taking it out totally skeeves me.
