I only have pierced ears, but I don't mind the sight of other piercings (unless they're many and extreme, but that's just me). I don't have any tatoos. I wouldn't mind having one, but it would be small and of significance to me.

I'm just curious as to why you got your piercings or tattoos. I know some people think people get them for attention, and I'm sure there are some who do, but I'm wondering about other reasons for getting them.

I had my belly button pierced (up until I got preggo with DS in 2007). I got it pierced originally in 98, took it out while preggo with DD in 00 then repierced it. Originally I got it done because it was trendy, but afterwards, I just liked it, so had it redone. If I get my belly back after baby4, I may redo it :)

I have 2 tattoos, my first was when I was 18, and it was just the cool thing to do. I got a dolphin because I always loved dolphins.
I got my 2nd one a few yrs ago to show my love for Tinkerbell, and she is on my lower back. Tattoos can be addictive, because I'd really like another one!!

I just tend to like the way that certain piercings look (eyebrow, labret, nose, etc), and I see it as another way to wear jewelry and express my tastes.

I finally took the plunge in July and had my eyebrow pierced, and I absolutely love the way that it looks on me. I can wear anything from a black titanium curved barbell with spiked ends (that really stands out), to a surgical steel curved barbell with light pink ball ends (that you can barely see). I have a clear plastic spacer for the piercing, but I can't get the end of it to go on (it's just an o-ring that pops onto the end), and I have no reason to wear it anyway. The piercing didn't hurt at all; it was just a very "different" experience, but not bad or painful.

The next piercing that I get will probably be my bellybutton. I love all of the cute jewelry that you can get for bellybutton piercings; I want to get a dangly Playboy bunny barbell. I don't know if I'll ever get some of the other piercings that I like the look of, but I've considered getting my nose, lip, and labret pierced as well. I would only wear a tiny stud in those piercings, if I ever get them done. I would like to get a few more piercings in ear cartilage eventually as well.

As of this moment, I have my eyebrow pierced, the cartilage of my right ear, three holes in my right earlobe, and two holes in my left earlobe. I'm 23.

This is what I tend to look like on a regular day. Here you can see my eyebrow piercing, my cartilage piercing, and a Tinker Bell stud in one of my earlobe piercings (it's blurry so you can't tell, but yes, it's Tinker Bell):

I just remembered, back in 98, when I got my bellybutton pierced, it was for my husbands bday. He got his tongue pierced and wanted me to get my bellybutton pierced. I passed out. LOL - When I chose to get it repeirced later, I didn't pass out that time... :)

And, as far as facial piercings...I used to want an eyebrow ring or a small nose ring, but my job wont' allow it :(
And, I need my job more than a piercing....

I have 2 holes in my ear, and never wear earrings...

I got my ear pierced for several reasons. First, it was a commitment I made to myself to never put money over happiness. Second, back then (it isn't really the case, much, anymore), I felt it marked me as open-minded and made me more approachable by the kind of people for whom such a symbol would be looked-upon positively. Finally, it was a clear indication to my boss, at the time, that I was giving my notice.

I have 1 piercing in each earlobe and 1 piercing in my right ear cartilage. I got the cartilage piercing at a point in my life where I didn't feel I had much control of anything. I had wanted a cartilage piercing for years and always chickened out. When I was coming out of that difficult period in my life, I really wanted to do something just for me and decided to take the plunge.

I passed out in the store after I got it done :faint: It was really spectacular - I took out a couple of display racks on my way down and still have the scar on my back :lmao: , but I'm so glad I did it. :) I really love it and when I look at it, it reminds me that I can do anything - even if I'm scared.

I only have 2 piercings in each ear lobe. The first ones, my mom did it when I was a baby. The second ones, I wanted because I thought it would mark me as a rebellious teen. Unfortunately, I didn't get to rebel at all because when I told my mom I wanted it done, she said OK, and took me to the store to do it. I was counting on some screaming and fighting, and then me finding a way to get it done without her, but it didn't happen that way. Guess my mom doesn't see second holes as a mark of rebellion. I always kinda wanted my cartilage pierced, but for some reason, it scares me because I've heard they can screw those up easily.

I have two holes in each ear. Used to have a third in one ear, but let that one close.
I have always wanted the cartilage pierced in one ear, but have never gotten up the nerve to do it.

I have two tattoos. I planned the first one for over 10 years before I got it.
Then a year later, got the second one.
I am going to add more to my first one.

Both tattoos are special to me.

I got the first one because I wanted it LOL. It is an expression of what I do.
The second one much the same, except it is an expression of some things I love.
Yes, tattoos are trendy, but that is not why I got mine.

I got tattoos because they are a way to express who I really am, and each of them has special meaning for me. I just got my fifth one a month ago and it says 'Nolite te *******es carborundorum', meaning 'Don't let the *******s grind you down'. It's from my favorite book The Handmaid's Tale.

Both ears have 2 piercings.....very, very long ago.

One tattoo.....it took me years to get the courage. I love it.
It is Merryweather with my 2 kids names coming out of the pixie dust from her wand.
It is on the outside of my ankle.
That's it for me....that is all I wanted and I am happy with it.

Have 2 holes in each ear so I could wear earrings instead of having my earlobes pinched by clip ons.

Other than that, don't really care for piercings elsewhere.

Why do you think it made you more approachable to some people? or why do you think you were less approachable to those people when you didn't have the pierced ear?

I have 2 piercings in my left ear and 4 in my right. I got those when I was a teen and I still wear earrings in them.

For my 30th birthday I got a purple morning glory tatted on my right ankle in the front.

I want one more, a tat of my 3 kids names in some sort of design. I'm just not sure where I want it placed. I keep doodling to come up with something.

I have 5 holes in left ear and 2 in right, but I only wear 2 in each ear now.
I had my belly button pierced, but it was crooked so I took it out.
I have 5 tattoos and want tink or mickey before I go to Disney in October. I've always wanted some sort of Disney tattoo, I'm suprised I don't have one now! There's one tattoo I wish I didn't have on my right ankle, it's so stupid!!! A music note and my name. It's so ugly :sad2:

I have 3 holes in each ear but never wear earrings. I got my belly button pierced about 9 years ago and I love it. I have 3 tattoos (back, ankle and on my lower stomach) and all are easily covered. The one on my back is my favorite but I can't see it which drives me crazy!!

I let my DD18 get her belly pierced last summer at 17. I'm sure she will probably get a tattoo at some point, but she knows that she needs to get one that is easily covered, especially since she is interested in theater and modeling.

I'm sorry if anyone has these, but I hate hate hate looking at people with their eyebrows or lip pierced. It's just really gross to me to look at.

My husband had his ear pierced when he was 37. :) My son, then 10, asked him to because he thought it was cool. My husband figured why not and had it done. He only wore his earring for about two years and it's closed up now.

I got my ears pierced at 12 because everyone was doing it and my mom finally let me. Got them double pierced at 14 for the same reason.

I'd love a tattoo, something meaningful and hidden. But DH doesn't like them.

For me, it really was as simple as liking the way they look. I still have my ears pierced once on the lobe and once up top and my tongue. I let my belly button piercing close 3 pregnancies ago and wouldn't show my belly now so there's no point in having it redone. My tattoos are very subtle, in places someone who only knows me casually isn't likely to see, and the designs are very personal, but again I got them because I think they're beautiful.

I have never been into piercings.. other than ears. I have 2 sets and rarely wear any. Hubby also has 2 in one ear and hasnt worn them in years.

I have 2 tattoos.. A butterfly on top of my foot and a dove with roses on my ankle.. got them both in my early 20's. I would love to get another one but I don't know what yet.
