In another thread people have mentioned that in some instances CMs are not allowing people to sit at QS tables until they have purchased their food. How do people manage this with young children and/or elderly parents?

When we travel, we have both. It is standard practice for me to settle my mom with my two little ones and then DH and I go to the counter to get our meal. Do they really want all five of us to stand in line together? We are not trying to reserve the table so much as facilitate an efficient trip through the line.

Go early or late when the CMs don't care. We generally eat about 11am and then again at 4pm.

Alternatively, send Dad and kids to the gift shop and text them when your food is in hand - there is always a gift shop :)

From what I've seen, if they have CMs posted at the doors, you have no choice but to wait for that table until you have food. We've mostly encountered it at Pecos Bill. But, like the PP said, if you eat early (we do usually) it's likely you won't encounter the problem.

If you eat before 11am and after 2pm you should not have a problem. It's just during the meal rush that they have the CM's guarding the door so to speak. I agree with you - I can't stand trying to go through line, order, corral people, carry food, etc etc.. therefore, we go before or after the rush and have never had a problem on any of our trips.. we have been all 4 seasons, as well as spring break, christmas, new years (park closed to capacity) and never had a problem seating the elderly/young while only a few in the party go get the food. It just has to do w/ the timing of when you go.

In my experience - not everyone has to go through the line together. There is a bench or somewhere else off to the side for others to wait. No way would I take everyone through the line with me!

I ran into it at Cosmic rays. My DH would have had our food by time I made it to front of line to be seated. And our travel companion would still have had trouble even w food plus they had exit doors blocked so we couldn't leave and the line was so long the food would have been cold by time we had been seated.

WE left and went to horseshoe

Keep in mind the way BOG is set up you really have to have everyone with you through the line - there's no way (that I saw) to get people to a table without going through the line.

Talking about BOG at lunch (CS) - I haven't been there for dinner (TS).

I do agree with the PP try to eat very early and you should be OK in terms of seating.

The folks who think it's "standard practice" to occupy tables without food of course see nothing wrong with it. Of course you wouldn't see the need to do it any other way.

The folks walking around with trays of food that can't sit and eat because many of the tables are occupied by non-eaters see it differently.

When this happened to me I asked for and received a cm to assist us in transporting our food. Two disabled preschoolers in a stroller makes it impossible to transport four meals and drinks to a table.
