I noticed on the other thread that very few kids walk to school. Just curious, how did YOU get to school. Poll coming, maybe, if I can figure it out.

I walked to school thru eighth grade and either got a ride or drove to high school.

Walked through 9th grade.
10-12 - bus, or walked if I missed the bus (well over 2 miles)

bus k-3
walked or rode bike 4-10 (yes, even in highschool, I rode my bike at times)
11+ - drove myself

I walked for awhile, then started riding my powder blue banana seat bike with clouds on the seat! A lot of kids rode their bikes, and we locked them up with our little chains :thumbsup2

Did you ever ride your bike to school...and then walk home...and then went to get your bike so you could go over a friends house and you got all bajiggidy that someone stole your bike?

then you realize it's the ONLY ONE sitting at the school locked up?

ok...maybe that was just me. :teeth:

Kindergarten - 10th: mom drove me
11th - 12th: drove myself

My school was far away so it would have been impossible to walk. I would've had to walk down a freeway. :rotfl:

I've never taken a bus in my life.

Bus until I hit 9th grade, than my mom would take us and pick us up.

K - 6 walked
7 - 10 walked in fall and spring, got the bus (mom paid) for the winter
11 - 12 drove myself

My parents drove me. I went to private school through 8th grade, and even after I transferred to the public school they wouldn't let me ride the bus. I didn't have my own car until senior year. :)

I lived around the corner from my school, and I started walking alone when I was in the first grade. When we moved to another town, around the fourth grade I walked about 3 blocks to a bus stop.

My dd is in the fourth grade, and she's allowed to ride her bike to school - about a 10 minute ride, including the crosswalk. It amazes me how many parents won't even let their kids walk down the street to get to school - and I'm talking about those ages 8 and up. We live in a pretty safe neighborhood, with dozens of kids walking and riding bikes in the neighborhood, so I feel comfortable with my dd doing it on her own.

K-9 walked
10-12 bus or got ride with friends I had an afterschool job downtown from 10th grade on, so rode the bus downtown. Then my mother picked me up afterwork. I didn't have a car or drive until I was 23.

k-9 bus
10-12 motorcycle (really rough in the winter but better than the bus)

K - 4 a parent or friend's parent drove me.
5 - 6 I walked.
7 - 8 I took a bus.
After that I was home schooled.

I usually walked but then I lived close to my schools.

by broom....

LOL J/K I walked.... my kids now ride the bus

I went to 13 schools, so it is a grab bag--
mostly k-6 walking--except 4th grade in Kingsville TX, the Moms had a car pool.
Last half of 6th thru 12th bus, the schools were 10/14 miles distant.
Oh, unless the winter weather was atrocious there was a max walk of 2 miles to the bus stop--no dropping off every 50 yds or so! ;)

K-5 walked the 5 blocks to school, we only had one car and my dad drove it to work.
6-9 walked the 12 blocks to the Middle School/High School
10-12 I drove

I walked up until 7th grade and from then on took the bus or got a ride.
