So, yes, I am freaky....I actually look forward to working out on vacation!!

Anyone take spin/pilates/yoga while on board or at CC?? Did the classes fill up/should I get there early?? What did you think of them?

I live in a small town so I don't get to experience these types of workouts regularly but I am an avid walker/weight lifter/cardio person so I can handle the stuff just curious!!

DD19, DS's girlfriend and I did the yoga class this past summer on the Wonder. It was in the morning and out on the Basketball court. There were about 6 of us in the class and was really nice. DD and DS's GF went back and did the yoga on the beach class on the CC day. They really liked it. It was held on Serenity Bay beach. They all met up and took the tram over together. I think there were aout 6 or 7 folks in that class as well.

I'm curious to know what the experience level was...would it be suitable for a beginner? I've done yoga in the past so have a little experience, but it isn't something I do regularly. I know I'd feel self-conscious if it was way over my head! Thanks! :goodvibes

Anymore info on the fitness programmes on the 7 night cruises anyone ??

:confused3

I took quite a few Spin classes and strength classes on the August T/A Repo (w/ 6 straight sea days it was a must). Spin classes fill up quickly because there are a limited number of cycles (2 were broken in August). You had to get there early to claim a bike. IMO(I spin 3 -4 times a week), I would not recommend the on board spin classes for a beginner, I think you really need the experience of knowing your limits and the ability to monitor your heartrate by either the way you feel or using a HR monitor and adjust your ride to keep you in the right heart rate zone.

The fitness center has alot of great equipment one can use to get a great workout without organized classes. :)

I kinda agree with this--if you have never taken a spinning class before, I don't know that I would try it for the first time on the ship. When we did the 7 day Eastern in March 06 I used the cardio equipment most days and took spinning once. It was a fun class though the bikes were quite different from those at my gym.

The wife in the family joining us on our upcoming cruise happens to be my gym's group exercise director so I know I will get good workouts this trip!!

Oh, I'm so glad to hear this, I was anticipating beginner level classes -I was actually not even going to bring my spin shoes.. to save on space - so would you recommend the classes for a good workout? What time are the classes held in the mornings -and are they everyday - even on the days we go to port? I'm sailing the Magic in 3 weeks and actually a little panicky about working out! I didn't want to start this thread, I'm glad someone did.

I actually just got the ok today from my doc to 'slowly' start back to running from a 5 month pelvic stress fracture...I was really hoping to be running on the ship - but we'll see, so spin and elliptical is all I can do for now -I asked my girlfriend who actually is a CM on the ship about the equipment but she was of no help! She said the staff gym had some equip, so I figured the guest fitness center would be pretty good.
