SPIDERS...Why did it have to be....SPIDERS

Queen: we're goin Sept 28th-10/6 (just in time for FREE dining....:yay:) It will be my hubby & my 10th anniversary.

Helllo. Caught up...I need to read more often so I can remember what page to start from... Happy Belated Birthday to you and Jasmine. Your birthday brunch from your sister sounds wonderful!

Great morning at MK--splash will be down when we are there in Jan. (BOO!) and we certainly won't see low summer crowds to ride multiple times! Congrats to you for that excitement.

I love the picture with Jasmine telling you to hurry up! That's how my family was!
Those chocolate covered strawberries look yummy! :cutie:

Lol....I love it too, she really was getting very aggitated with me:confused3 Glad you can relate:cool1: They were so good......

The same thing happens to me....or I sign in and then have to run and do something and can`t remember who`s reports I haven`t caught up on:rotfl2:

Our brunch was delish...my sister is a doll...she always has brunch for everyone`s birthdays....love her:lovestruc

Splash was down when we went in January too and Jasmine kept saying it just didn`t feel right because we couldn`t ride SM....now having said that, this past January was far too cold to have ridden anyways so that softened the blow a little;)

I love the MK opening show too. I keep saying how people who have never bothered getting there for opening are missing out!

Awesome the park was so empty. :thumbsup2

I'm catching up!! Love the pics and the strawberries look soooo yummy!

Yay!!:cool1:Thanks....I actually went to a specialty bakeshop this past week here about bought 4....they were so good, but there's something about eating them in WDW that makes them taste even better:cloud9:

I ask no one to wait. It is more fun to surprise them. Beside, pooksma will not pose for a photo.

:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao: Ahhh yes .... the sneak attack.....Pooksma posed for me:confused3:rotfl2::rotfl2:

I've been having a couple of those Disney withdrawal days lately so I've been spending some time on youtube watching Wishes, Fantasmic and Illuminations. I couldn't agree with you more....they have no idea what they're missing:banana:

Nothing like an empty park to start your day off with a bang:woohoo:

I was so happy last night when I went to bed to think of the extra hour of sleep I was going to get....and here I am at 634am wide awake! Oh well, since I'm up and have a rather full day on my plate I thought I would get an update done! I had left off with us leaving the MK to head back to the resort for our afternoon by the pool. Once we were showered and changed we headed out to catch the bus back to MK....where were we going for dinner......Kona Cafe at the Poly. Last year this was one of our favorites so we were very excited about it! Jasmine had talked all day about her miso glazed mahi mahi ... that girl does enjoy her fish.
147.jpg

As soon as we got off the bus we headed for the monorail. I had asked Jas if she wanted to take the ferry for something different but nope, monorail it was.
148.jpg

We had just missed one as we were walking up the ramp but before long this was the sight that greated us....our first ride of the trip! This is another one of those "you know you're at Disney when...."
149.jpg

I tried to get a closer shot but you can see it didn't exactly work.
150.jpg

We were fortunate enough to get a seat so I of course had to take pictures. As you can see the park still wasn't crawling with people....you gotta love going at this time of year!
151.jpg

Space Mountain....it's funny how every year that we come now that ride gets harder and harder to get out of:lmao: I'll never forget our first trip...it was US Thanksgiving week and the parks were beyond crowded. We waited just shy of 2 hours to ride and when we got up to board the ride vehicle Jasmine had a complete meltdown when she realized no one would be sitting beside her. I tried my best to calm her down but in the end she was getting on that ride ... I went first, then Jasmine, then my sis, then my BIL...she was practically hysterical once belted in but I knew she's be find once we got going. I laughed so hard when I heard her saying mayday mayday could somebody help me up here.....I died laughing, it made it even funnier that my sister was screaming louder than anyone. When we got off Jasmine was jumping up and down asking to go again....the look on my sister's face was priceless, there was no way we were waiting in that line again.....ahhhh memories
152.jpg

BLT....someday we will stay here....I can't imagine how it must feel to walk to and from the MK....heavenly

After coming through the Contemporary
154.jpg

Not a great shot but it's the Tron-o-rail!
155.jpg

Arrival at the Poly....I loved this statue and of course I made Jasmine pose with it.
156.jpg

There is something about the sights and smells of the Poly that we love! It is beyond beautiful and we love it. We had to wait about half an hour past our ADR time which was no big deal because we had no other plans for the evening. We thought if time permitted we may watch Wishes from the beach but if it didn't happen that was ok too! I know....I don't know what happened to me on this trip....I kept throwing caution to the wind !
158.jpg

We had met 2 sisters...at least I think they were sisters....with their grandchildren on the monorail and they were also going to Kona for dinner. Between the 2 of them they had 6 children and I must say they were so well behaved. They had lost their reservation so they had to wait a bit for a table so we enjoyed a nice chat with them. Here is a picture of Jasmine excitedly awaiting her dinner. Notice the lovely ring Jasmine bought at Tren D to go with the new dress she had bought there!
159.jpg

Keeping with our customs, Jasmine ordered her lava smoothie but she couldn't finish it because they went a little overboard with the raspberry or strawberry stuff and it made it too sickening.
160.jpg

I decided to try a white sangria, it sounded so refreshing when I read the description that I couldnt' wait to try it. Our waitress came over and I just knew from that very moment this was not going to be a pleasant dining experience. She was so abrupt but it more boardered on rude. She asked what we wanted to drink so Jas went first and then me....she looked at me and said "it's red sangria ma'am, not white". I said no, I don't like red sangria I would like the white. She proceeded to put her hand on her hip and say....well that's all you can get here, did you want something else? I grabbed the cocktail menu and flipped to the page where the white sangria was and she said "well they've changed the menu then I've been on vacation and walked away.....I looked at Jasmine and said if that's her after a vacation I would have hated to have her before she went.
161.jpg

Picture of the restaurant while we were waiting for Miss Personality to come and take our dinner orders.
162.jpg

When she returned Jasmine ordered her mahi mahi and I had decided on the ginger crusted rib eye (I think that was the cut). While we waited she brought us the bread and macadamia nut butter that we had dreamt about all day.....let's just say this was the best part of our meal. They completely changed the miso glazed mahi mahi, it no longer came in a broth with bok choy and noodles....it came with plantains and other gross stuff (sorry, plantains is not something you find in central Canada) My steak was nothing but fat and grissle. When she finally came to ask how our meals were it went like this-----poor Jasmine has finished what she could because she didn't like the flavors in it and believe me, when it comes to fish that girl will devour anything. She came to the table took one look at Jasmine's plate and said "what's the matter with you, you don't like it" . I almost fell off my chair...Jasmine just looked up at her and said "I'm just full". I told her it was different than last year and she cut me off saying...well things change all the time and it has a very good description in the menu of what she ordered. Ok....now steam is coming out of my ears, but I figured we'll order dessert so at least we're not starving and get the heck outta here.
163.jpg

Ooops I forgot we had ordered the potstickers as an appetizer...I had read so many wonderful things about them that we really wanted to try them.
164.jpg

Jasmine ordered this....and said it was delicious. She said the ice cream really finished it off well that it cut the richness of the cake.
165.jpg

I ordered what I order everytime if it's on the menu....creme brulee...this was a chocolate and banana creme brulee and it really was delicious.

We finished with our desserts paid what we owed and decided to call it a night. Neither of us was in the mood for watching Wishes we really just wanted to head back to the hotel and call home and see how everyone was doing. I don't know that we'll return to Kona...if it had been just the server that would never stop me from returning...but the food quality was no way near what we had had before. Thank goodness that white sangria helped lessen the pain:lmao:

That's too bad that you guys were that disappointed with Kona...we've never been here but we're looking forward to trying it next time but now i'm not so sure.

The poly is so beautiful and you got some great shots of the lobby

Looking forward to more:goodvibes

Aww :( Sorry about the bad experience :( My mom and brother ate there a few weeks ago and enjoyed the meal but I can understand how a meal can turn sour with a mix of bad food/not expecting it and poor service :( Hopefully that was the only sour part of the trip!

Great pictures! Sorry about the rude server and disappointing meal.

Love Jasmine's ring!

Love the monorail picture tour! Makes me feel like I'm there. Sorry to hear the Kona meal wasn't good. You win some and lose some even at Disney World I guess.

That is just terrible! Sorry Jasmine's dish was so great-- that waitress is just ridiculous though! What an attitude! I hope if you decide to go back that you have a better experience!

I've heard so many bad reports of service at Kona and had the pleasure(?) of experiencing it myself that it might be time to turn it into a theme restaurant. One that you EXPECT the staff to be rude to you. They wouldn't have to do much staff training to the desired effect.

Love the ring.

Have to catch up on the rest of your report. I know I've been MIA.

That story was too funny about Jasmines 1st SM ride. Heck, I was scared the 1st time I rode 2 years ago when I realized no one would be sitting by me!
And, your right, I had a lot harder time getting out of that thing this year!

Sorry your meal/server was not good.

I LOVE Jasmine's ring!

Aww I'm sorry you had such a horrid server and that the food wasn't to your liking. We had breakfast there in Sept but we've never had dinner there. I hope the rest of your dining experiences were much better! :goodvibes

I'm sorry to hear that you didn't have a great experience at Kona. We have not had dinner there but I wanted to try it. I'm a little scared now after reading about your experience.

I'm enjoying your TR! :thumbsup2

Mark was up early today...couldn't sleep with the change in time.

I don't know how I'll ever get an update on my TR as it seems everyone else is updating and I'm trying to keep up with theirs.

That is awful that you had such a lousy waitress at Kona for your dinner and that the food was not as good as you remembered it. We've never been (we were supposed to do breakfast in September, but we skipped it because we were tired after our night before with Cayley and Avery).

Your pictures, however, are great. And Jasmine is just so pretty.

Wow we woke up at the exact same time today!! How weird!! lol I kept talking about the extra hour of sleep as well and well we know how that turned out. The desserts at Kona looked really good but that service would have really ruined what started to be such a nice evening. That's too bad when they act like that, we went to P.F. Changs last night and must of had the same server. :rotfl:

Tell Jasmine we love her ring!! Hope you guys got more pics together, you both are so photogenic!!
