Hi! We are going to Universal Studios and Islands Of Adventure for the first time in August. Do the rides The Amazing Adventures of Spiderman or Revenge of the Mummy go upside down? What are they like? I do not like upside down rides or rides which could cause motion sickness, like simulators.

Thank You.:goodvibes

Neither ride go upside down, Mummy is fast though. They are both on my faveourite list and well worth a go!

There are only TWO rides that go upside down. Hulk & Dueling Dragons. Both are huge, obvious rollercoasters. Both are in IOA.

ROTM is a rollercoaster, but not an intense one. It's very fun and has a mix of slow, dramatic show scenes and with high-speed rollercoaster sections.
Spider-Man is a slow moving dark ride that has several show scenes where you will experience 3-D effects and simulation. The ride moves continuously throughout. Very fun.

I love both too!!

Spiderman is a giant 3D movie in which you move from room to room in your vehicle. The vehicle moves to coincide with the action on the movie and has motion but it is not a roller coaster....it is more of an illusion from the movie itself. There are no drops or speed. I would not call it a simulator - I cannot ride simulators either - this is completely different and unlike any ride. The ride takes you on an adventure with spiderman. I have not heard of anyone getting sick on this ride. It is a great one for sure!

The Mummy is also a great ride. It is a coaster, but there are no inversions. Since it is an indoor coaster, you have no sense of height. This ride is like being in the movie and the effects are not to be missed. It goes fast, but the effects are more exciting than the actual ride itself as you go from room to room. There is one drop, but it is not like a drop on the hulk or anything. In another post I wrote my 70 year old mother who is afraid to stand on a chair and gets dizzy LOVED this ride. The effects are "scarier" than the actual coaster ride. It's also over very fast!

:thumbsup2

I agree with both previous posters. I loved Spiderman!! It is the feel of going through the movie with him. I am a HUGE rollercoaster chicken and I really loved the Mummy!! If I am in the dark and cannot get that sense of height and track, I am good!!

Cannot wait to get on them again in 22 days!!!!

It's possible that Spiderman could cause motion sickness due to the 3-D effects, but I would recommend just closing your eyes and you should be okay.

Mummy is AWESOME and not to be missed. It doesn't go upside down, but you do get some air time. You don't really see the drop because it's so dark, but your butt will leave the seat (don't worry, the restraints are very secure).

Spiderman, while a simulator ride (a great one at that!) has no upside down parts, but the only thing that comes close is a simulation part where your car is thrown from the top of a building and you "freefall" into a spiderweb. its only a few seconds of freefall, and not very scary at all. The Mummy, like a previous poster said is very fast indeed with alot of stop-shorts and re-starts. Awesome effects make this ride a winner. hope tis helped!..ENJOY

I get very quesy on some rides but Mummy and Spiderman were just great! Mummy was so much fun!

Mummy is actually very short and yes, inside so you really don't get that height thing going on.

I really recommend these two without hesitation. Have fun!

Mummy goes backwards after a short ride though the tomb where the ride slowly begins....it is not that bad though....if you know it's coming. Then the ride takes off. It's fast, but not that long...I would definately recommend it

The Mummy is a roller coaster. It may cause motion sickness. It is not as intense as the major ones, like the Hulk, but it is fast and it does go backwards a little.

Spiderman is unlike any other ride I have been on. I would say it is a combination of a motion simulator and a track ride. The car does spin around pretty fast and there is simulation of falling, among other things. I think this ride would likely cause motion sickness.

That said, both rides are among my favorites at Universal. Spiderman is by far my favorite ride at any theme park!

IMO 2 of the best rides in the world not just at Uni/IOA. You should also put on your list the Jurassic Park ride and MIB (actually everything but those are my favs).
