Hello all

First trip to USF and IOA Feb 06. I suffer with motion sickness but love big drop sensations, so don't want to miss out on the simulated drop at end of this ride. Whats the ride like for motion sickness, I have done Mission space and loved it but hated the Star Wars ride.

Many Thanks

David

Everyone is different of course but I don't have any trouble with this ride. If you feel odd, it's easy to look away from the action and find a stable wall if you need to. As for motion, I think that it would be more similar to Dinosaur than any of the others at WDW.

I keep hearing that Back to the Future bothers some people. I was OK with that but Jimmy Neutron got to me for some reason. I haven't heard of anyone else having trouble but I guess that you just never know. :)

I can't read anything in the car for more than 2-3 minutes. I had no problems with Spiderman at all, although felt a bit sick through Shrek. I had to take the 3d glasses off halfway through Terminator aswell, but I think it is just because I have it bad. Although, the 2nd time through, I survived Shrek without removing the glasses, and watching the whole show.

Spiderman is a favorite of ours! The only time I get a little queasy is if we ride over and over without a break in between.

I got that way after Jimmy Neutron once also. My husband has a problem in the back seat of Cat in the Hat. :confused3

DW had a very rough time with Spiderman. She has a tough time with Star Tours too or any other simulator type of ride. So she may be quite a bit more sensitive to motion sickness than most. For instance, she couldn't do Mission: Space either, but has no problem with Tower of Terror and Test Track.

Like Planogirl said...everyone is different. But I will say that if you think you can handle it, Spiderman is definitely worth taking a chance on! It's an incredible ride.

I love Spiderman, and I am scared to death of rides. But watch out for the Back to the Future Ride, it took almost a hour to recover from that! lol

If you get motion sickness easily, Spiderman me not be for you. It moves around and jerks you like the usual similator rides. I usually avoid rides that are in enclosed spaces, I just doesn't work for me. I guess it kind of compares to Star Tours and Body Wars except the visuals are so fantasic you may even forget your feeling queezy. I wouldn't go as far as comparing it to BTTF though. That ride's a killer. :scared1:

I am prone to motion sickness too. I take dramamine the entire trip and it really helps. Spiderman still made me a little queasy, but not bad at all. I would ride Spidie again without hesitation.

omg last time we were there it was like 2hour wait for this ride ... this time when we went it was 5 min wait I saw the car you ride in and thought ok good its not closed in... felt better when I saw you actually go thru a building not just in a simulator with a screen.... well omg I got off and felt terrible and it was the last part that made me that way when you do the building drop down I tried to not look and felt worse my hubby and kids went on again but I didn't! Back to the future made me feel sick aswell and I didn't even try mission space. But tower of terror ect I am fine on soar'n I felt alittle bit dizzy I think it is the fact of watching a screen with moving stuff that does it for me !

I went on Back to the Future not having read the warnings and was very sick. Mission Space very sick, so when I started feeling queasy on Spidey I just took off the 3-D glasses and I was fine... of course, did not feel the full effect of the ride but... I lived to ride another ride. What I find anoying at Universal is they have warnings on almost every ride about motion sickness. Well - it is not true. Cat in the Hat will not make you sick. Jurassic Park will not make you sick, Dueling Dragons will not make you sick. I think they are just trying to cover all liability. Sad. They should just take away those signs and put a huge one outside of Back to the Future that says: "KEEP OUT. This will make you clausterphobic and sick." ;)

I get motion sick on Spiderman. However, as soon as I feel it happening, I just take off the 3-D glasses and I am fine.

i'm a bit strange as i have terrible motion sickness (5 mins in the car does it for me!) but have no probs at all with any of the rides in Orlando

Or they could be trying to save people the trouble of getting sick. Just because it had no effect on you doesn't mean there aren't millions of people who can't handle a roller coaster like the Dragons. Saying a coaster with 7 inversions won't get anyone sick is outrageous. And Cat's spinning has been known to make some people sick.

Dueling Dragons makes me sicker than any ride in either park.

They should just take away those signs and put a huge one outside of Back to the Future that says: "KEEP OUT. This will make you clausterphobic and sick."

"Back to the Future" doesn't make me clastrophobic or sick. I just hate getting banged around on the ride.

My husband has a lot of trouble with the "simulator-type" rides. Therefore he was literally green when he rode Spiderman as well as Jimmy Neutron and somewhat on Back to the Future. :crazy2:

Disney rides apply as well including Star Tours and Body Wars. Interestingly he was fine with Soarin'.

He is fine on rollercoasters.

Riiiight, where it's your body that makes you sick, not the rides :confused3
