42 Days til we're back at WDW! We have a wide variety of ADRs, but I got to thinking - I keep reading about ppl asking if things are spicy because they are worried about them being TOO spicy. I, however, am worried about there not being enough spice!! I love anything and everything with some heat to it.

So, I'm wondering, what are the best options for some spicy food? I'll list the ADRs I have in case someone wants to know!!

Boma (D)
Boma (B)
Via Napoli (L)
Cape May (D)
Crystal Palace (B)
The Wave (L)
Teppan Edo (D)
Kouzzina (D)
Sanaa (L)
Yachtsman (D)
CRT (L)
Artist Point (D)
Kouzzina (B)
Ohana (D)
Flying Fish (D)
Captain's Grill (B)
Y&Y (L)
Narcoossees (D)
Brown Derby (L)
California Grill (D)
Cape May (B)
Tutto Italia (L)

Plus we'll be spending 2 days at Universal - so 2 lunch's will be there...

2 place I know we have had spicy food are Rain Forest Cafe (pastalaya) and House of Blues

Where we have been disappointed - Restaurant Marrakesh - very bland compared to what we were anticipating

Go to Sanaa, get the bread service, make sure you have some sambal and garlic pickle.

Oh thanks for reminding me about the sambal at sanaa- i just love sambal and you can't really make it non-spicy like so many "spicy" dishes at disney! and bonus, we already have an ADR there! :goodvibes

RFC & HoB - fun but I know we'll be skipping those this year, but thanks!! Just went to RFC last weekend and somehow manage to have a horrible meal every single time we go. HoB same story. :lmao: Maybe we'll try them again in a couple years, after we leave enough time to forget. I'll have to look up that pasta dish though, sounds like something I might have to make at home! :thumbsup2

I didn't find anything spicy at all while eating at WDW with the exception of the above mentioned bread service at Sanaa which was a delicious and welcomed change!!!!!

So you're saying I need to prepare some little travel bottles of hot sauce to bring around with me?? :lmao:

Actually speaking of hot sauce, do they offer anything other than Tobasco sauce at restaurants (for instance, w/ home fries or eggs)? I really dislike tobasco sauce (and it doesn't have much spice to it anyway).

You can ask the server at Sanaa about having the chef heat up your dishes. They were able to adjust one of our entrees pretty easily. And the sambal there is amazing.

We also ate dinner at Ohana our last trip, and I wish I'd thought to ask if they had hot sauce. It would really have helped the overall blandness of the food.

I'm sorry to say if I were you and didn't care for tabasco, I'd travel with hot sauce. You can buy some in the Mexico area in Epcot. That's what we ended up doing.

Heat is toned down in WDW since not everyone likes it. You can always add, can't take it out!

The only places on your list I can think of would be Saana (you can ask them to dial up the heat on the curries and some of the accompanyments), and Kouzzina, but only the lamb burger or lamb meatballs.

Kouzzina uses harissa (sp?) in the meat mixture, I was warned by the waitress they could'n't take out the heat since the ground lamb is pre-mixed early in the day. Even the fisherman's stew that is scribed as spicy I didn't find hot at all.

Other places that say "spicy" are usually referring to flavor, like allspice/cinnamon spices at Boma, rather than heat.

Haven't tried HOB or the others.

Even when you ask them to make it spicy hot, your dish is most likey arrive at you table with a low (spice) to lower end medium heat. Plan to bring your own...if you like it hot

You can definitely get some heat at Sanaa. I haven't eaten at Boatwright's but I just looked at their menu as we hope to eat there. Seems like most of the offerings are intended to be spicy. I would say that's your best bet but I don't see it on your list.

Thanks for the tip on Ohana! I'll have to do that. And will def. ask about heating up a dish at Sanaa!

Oh that's a good idea, esp if I forget to pack some!

Okay thanks for the info about Kouzzina! That's another place I might be able to add some heat to something without it being overly weird (though, seriously, I love spicy chocolate too!)

Its not an ADR, but the appetizers at the Cava de Tequila were kind of spicy.

oooh actually this is a great point bc I defiitely plan to try the margarita flight there - will have to try an app too I guess! Thanks! (Just wish they included these on the DP!)

Ok, sounds like that's what I'll have to do! Thanks.

I checked out Boatwrights menu, and it does look good! I'll have to remember it if we are unhappy with a particular ADR and want to change - besides I've always wanted to check out POR! Thanks!
