A Simple Message From Your Pet
by Ken D. Conover
To have loved and then said farewell is better than to have never loved at all.
For all of the times that you stooped and touched my head, fed me my favorite treat and
returned the love that I so unconditionally gave to you. For the care that you gave to me
so unselfishly. For all of these things I am grateful and thankful. I ask that you grieve
not for the loss but rejoice in the fact that we lived, loved and touched each other's lives.
My life was fuller because you were there, not as owner, but as my friend. Today, I am
as I was in my youth. The grass is always green, butterflies flit among fthe flowers and
the sun shines gently down upon all of God's creatures. I can run, jump and play
and do all of the things that I did in my youth. There is no sickness, no aching joints
and no regrets and no aging. We await the arrival of our lifelong companions and know
that togetherness is forever. You live in our hearts as we do in yours. Companions such
as you are very rare and unique. Don't hold the love that you have within yourself.
Give it to another like me and then I will live forever. For love never really dies,
and you are loved and missed as surely as we are.

Thank you, just beautiful....

To the OP:
I'm not sure why but your post really touched me. I'm not a cat person, not even a pet person but I think I could hear the sorrow in your words.

I'm really sorry for your loss.

I'm sorry for the loss of your loved pet - I was very sad to read of it, since I feel that Spicey was part of your identity.

I also am so sorry to hear about Spicey. I am just one of many other posters who lost a beloved pet, (almost 10 years ago!) . I still miss her. Our pets become one of the family!

I truly believe that the way you love animals says a great deal about a human being. You're right up there with the best of them. I hope each new day will become easier to accept your loss and know that "Spicey" is in a better place watching over and waiting for you!

Sincerely,
Tom, "Buddy", & "Buster"

I am so sorry for your loss. In May we put down our beloved golden retriever "Bo". It's such a hard decision to make. You gave him a loving home. Nothing heals a broken heart faster than filling it with a new "furbaby".

We had to put our 15 year old dog, Mogli to sleep 3 days ago. Our dear friend filled our lives with so much joy but he was very ill. He stopped eating, couldn't even stand anymore. As a puppy we brought him home in a shoebox...the kids were just babies at the time. He was such an important part of our family. I will miss him, dearly. I'm very sorry for your loss.

Normally , in the case of memorial threads here on the DVC boards, we leave them open for a day or so, then cllose and move them to the In Memoriam board. Since Spicey was a beloved pet, and Pat a respected member of these forums, we've left it open for everyone to express their condolences. The posting have slowed, and it is time to close.

Pat, I know that your tales of Spicey and his trips to WDW will be missed. We all enjoyed reading them.
