SPG Gold....How does it work?

I was just upgraded to SPG gold and wanted to know how that worked at check in....do I get any special things......just wanted to be prepared.

What is SPG gold? I've never heard of that.

It's the gold status on your starwood preferred card....I read the website...but I was wondering what folks experience at the S/D that are gold members.

They may upgrade you to a nicer room upon checkin. You get bonus points for charges made while staying there, using your Starwood Amex. When I stayed with a friend, they upgraded her room for her since our reservations were linked, so that was nice.

We have SPG gold. You get an extra point for every US dollar you spend at a resort which is nice plus you are upgraded to a nicer room on checkin. We've stayed at a couple of Sheraton's since we've to the gold status and it's been a nice perk.

In the Toronto airport there is the Sheraton Gateway hotel - a nice hotel. When we booked there last we just walked in and were automatically moved up to their club level and I had booked a standard room. With the Dolphin I used some SPG points to upgrade us to the club level (when they had it) so I don't know what they would have upgraded us too. Remember too it's based on availability and we wanted to CL for sure.

One thing you may want to do is just phone the Dolphin and ask for the SPG desk. Just ask the person what you can expect for an automatic upgrade.
