SPG Amex question

We've never had an American Express card before and I am curious about one thing. I'm the primary account holder for our new SPG Preferred Guest Card. I listed DH to get a card too and I just noticed that his has a different number.

We have a trip planned for July and want to accrue points before we arrive. Will we still accrue SPG points together, despite the different Amex account numbers? We have only one SPG membership number, in my name.

Yes, as long as you link the primary card holder number on your AmEx with your starwood number they will credit both cards to Starwood account!

How long does it usually take for points earned by Amex purchases to be credited?

We find they are credited at the end of every month, just a day or two after our AMEX bill is generated. you can check by going to SPG.com.

Points earned other ways (i.e. filling out surveys, hotel stays, etc.) may take longer to post.

right now until (I think) mid-Jan you earn two starpoints for every $1 spent purchase if you make a purchase of $500 or more on your Amex.

Flyertalk.com has a forum devoted to starwood and an excellent search function. It has answered every question I have had about earning and redeeming starwood points.
