and unfortunately I wasn't impressed. I really wanted to love the Swan! The location is great, and the price was not bad either. But----

The carpets in the hallways are very bad. The whole center is so worn that the pattern is gone. I thought the resort was redone not too long ago, but maybe I'm wrong. There is no way this wear happened quickly.

My room, which had a great view (corner room with 2 banks of windows!) also had the dreaded musty smell. Thankfully I pack along febreze, and along with cranking the air way down, that took care of most of the smell.

I had booked a feather-free room due to a severe allergy. But there was no difference between my bedding and the bedding my sister had in her room. I called down (which was another issue, as they had phone problems my whole stay) and they did bring me cotton blankets. But no one could tell me if my bedding was or was not down. Which is unacceptable.

I will say too there are a few things I missed that Disney resorts have. A food court. A laundry room. Both are available at the Dolphin, but I found it a hassle to walk over. I also missed the nice large open closet area and the large shelf over it. The closet at the Swan has one small place for long clothes, and another section with 2 bars, one over the other. And if you hang anything but shorts on the top bar, they drag on the bottom bar. The sink too outside of the shower are has a very narrow edge, and I kept knocking my stuff off of it. The one in the main bathroom area is much bigger, but after a shower the whole area stayed steamy for quite some time (a vent is there, but not one you can switch on and off).

I asked my sister her thoughts, and they were pretty much the same as mine. It is an ok resort. The location and boat access to Epcot and DS are the best parts. Not sure if I would revisit.

I assume you stayed at the Swan because it was cheaper than a comparable Disney hotel.
Just wondering if you think the savings "outweighed" any of the negatives that you mentioned in your post.

This is why we stay here!! If we want to stay in the EP area and Swan/Dolphin come out substantially cheaper, yes, we stay there. With discounts, we once got 3 nights at the Dolphin for the price of 1 night at BWI. Did we miss BWI and BC? Yes, but we could just walk over to BWI and enjoy the nightly entertainment. Sometimes the savings definitely outweigh all other considerations.

Hmm, that is a good question. I'm honestly not sure. We picked the Swan for A-- location B-- ease of transportation for my dad and C-- because we always thought they looked neat. I won't say that going back is out of the question. But in considering it I'm not excited, and that is disappointing.

The only way I found the Swan superior to a Disney moderate was location. My dad has already stated he would like to go back to WDW, but I'm thinking the Contemporary may be a better choice. We spend most of our time at the Magic Kingdom and Epcot. Hopping on the monorail may be the best way to go with Pops.

Sorry to hear that you were disappointed in your stay. I hope the other aspects of your trip were better. :)
