I didn't get out for any of the Black Friday sales today & was proud to not have spent any $$ (already saving for my newborn's first trip next year-hopefully!). But, as I am having DW withdrawls, my DH and I agreed we should order all the new monorail accessories from DW merchandising. To my dismay, I also ordered the new Monopoly Theme Park Edition and the Storybook Ride Ornaments. The damage: a whopping 400! Then, since DH's credit card was still steaming, I picked mine up & went to DS online. They had Xmas flags, Xmas plate set, princess rolling luggage on sale. Had to get the new luggage for new dd, even though I already got her the princess one they had out a few months ago. Fortunately, they have free shipping over 75 and free stitch plush over 75, which can be used together. Santa is getting a major workout this year! (Please console my bank account!)

How did you order from DW Merch-by telephone? Also, what did the monorail set cost? I am trying to think of some gifts for my 13 year old, 9 yr. old and 5 yr. old from the parks. Since I haven't been there for a couple of years, I am in the dark. Do you have any ideas? thanks, Carolyn aigjr@aol.com

The number to order from parks and WDW stores is 407-363-6200. Unfortunately there's no website or catalog. The monorail accessories I got this time are: Grand Floridian & Polynesian 35 each, Haunted Mansion 25, Castle 50, Tea Party Ride, Dumbo Ride, Astro Orbitor 22 each, Connectors 6 each, Monorail Switching Station 45, extra track 10 each. I also ordered the new rides ornament set for 32, and the Disney Theme Park Monopoly 40. I don't remember how much the actual monorail cost. If you're interested, make sure to get Spaceship Earth and the Contemporary first because I think they are to be discontinued.
This is getting to be a very expensive obsession! I believe there are several WDW versions of popular family games, like Clue, Monopoly, Trivial Pursuit, etc. They opened up a new toy store after the last time I went, which was in March. If you look on ebay, people are selling these items for more than WDW. Shipping was only 16. for everything I bought. Let me know if you find anything else out!

thanks for the info. I understand that the monorail rides on the tracks (is that electric?) but the other parts of disney that you bought like the hotels and rides, do they just sit there outside of the track or does the monorail actually go under or in them? Also, do you have any other ideas for gifts from the parks? thanks for helping, Carolyn from NJ:Pinkbounc

Monorail goes through the Contemporary and underneath Spaceship Earth. The others are stops on the way. I don't know how the rides work yet, but will soon. The monorail uses batteries, but the ride connectors are used instead of batteries for the rides themselves. There are lots of other great things from the parks, you just need to know which is the person's favorite charactor, show, or attraction. The ornament sets are great, but they are common. The monorail and train set (comes with mickey, minnie, donald & goofy) are the best in my opinion. There are also great die cast collectible "ride cars" from each of the attractions, which are very inexpensive and very cool. Look at ebay, you'll see what I mean. Look under "haunted mansion doom buggy". These cars are replicas of the ride cars and have Mickey, etc sitting in them.
