Hi all,
This is going to be our 1st trip to wdw  , we are a family of 6, kids are 15, 14 , 12, 10 yrs and will be going for 21 days from 12th July, we are staying in a villa.

Can anyone offer any advice on spending money?
We need a ball park figure of approx what to take with us?

We have booked and paid for our park tickets so i'm just stuck on how much we should allow for meals & drinks through out the day, planning on eating out mostly although breakfast will be at the villa.

Any other tips you could offer would be greatly appreicated! :grouphug:
Cheers
Mo & David

Most will say about $150 for a family of 4. i would think about $200 for a family of 6 though if not a bit more.

I'm assuming Vicky is talking about per day! On our last visit in 2000 we spent £1000 for a family of four for two weeks. When DH and I go in September, we plan on spending at least that amount for the two of us for 16 days.

I would advise you to take Travellers Cheques if you want to, but ALWAYS have a CC for emergencies and in case you run out!!!

We usually 'budget' about $10 - $15 dollars per meal per day based on 3 meals per day, this is MORE than enough and allows a little extra spending for snacks and drinks, If your kids will share a drink get 1 refillable mug per day and let them share!

Mo & Dave, :wave2:

Roughly work out a day figure to spend.

For a Family of four (2 adults, 2 children) for three weeks we are taking $1000 for me and my Wife. :earseek: We have pre-booked our Disney tickets and Orlando Flex tickets. This will cover us for everything, including all meals, drinks and gifts.

We also tend to do alot of Dinner Shows.

Overall, we rarely come back with anything left :rolleyes1

Me and boyf are preparing for up to $1200 for food - only drink water - between us for 16 days.

Yes sorry that's per day.
Wouldn't it be nice of we coulld manage on that for the whole holiday. :teeth:

We took $4000 with us this year and came home with $1000,that was with a family of 4.

£100 per day for a family of three used to be our budget, but as the £ went the wrong way against the $ over many years, that went up to £125.

With £:$ now good again, I guess you would want a minimum of £125 per day for a family of six, perhaps up to £150.

Enjoy your holiday.

Thanks for your prompt replies.

Vicky was that $3000 for a 2 week hol?

where would you recommend getting the tc's? or does it make any difference?
thanks again

Yes ,it was for a 2 week holiday.

We got ourr $ and TC's from travelex but shop around.

We always get our travellers cheques from marks and spencers.with regards to spending money.we find that one of the great things about going to Florida is if you have already paid for your park tickets before you leave the UK the spending money you take is mostly for food and mabe a little shopping in the outlets? you can eat for a few dollars and you can eat a sit down meal in disney for about 100 dollars both will be great.

Exactly - we've even paid already for one of our meals (Planet Hollywood). Unless we've just paid for a reservation?
No, I think it's the meal... we'll find out when we get there!

I'm not going to be bringing loads of gifts back anyway (well, no one does for me - and it is my birthday trip), so I'm only really concerned with enough money for food (but will take a little extra just in case I wanna treat myself).

Planet Hollywood was both the most expensive and worst meal we had while in Orlando.

I loved it when I went :)
(and I just found out that it's the meal)

We're a family of four (kids 9 & 6) stayed for 2 weeks last September and had £1500 spending money, this was for all meals and purchases. We still had money left at the end of the holiday and bought things in the airport.

Breakfast averaged $20-$25 - look out for the discount vouchers.
Lunch was mainly a quick drink and snack.
Dinner averaged $40-$50 - again there are discount vouchers around.
Most expensive meal $95 (2 courses + drinks) in Sharks Underwater Grill, Seaworld - worth it for the excellent food and setting (Like something out of a James Bond movie!!!).
Some nights we made do with a pizza or burger if we were tired, so these amounts aren't for every day.

At the end of the day you can spend as much or as little as you want.

On average we spent $50 on our evening meal per day
We eat lunch at the parks rough guess about $30 per day
We never bothered with breakfast.

The rest went on shopping :teeth: and pin trading :rotfl:

Last year we had $2000 and we still got what we wanted but we spent our last bit at the airport home.
