for a family of 4 going for 14 nights what would you recommend?

Because of the good exchange rate we changed £2000 which we had saved and got just under $4000. Hopefully that will do us.

We're not big shoppers but in 2005 £1500 was plenty for food and souvenirs for 2 adults and 2 children (11 & 14). We'd bought our park passes before we went (another £800 I think.)

Depends what you are planning to buy really, we must of spent $4000 dollars on just clothes and jewellery last time we went! Not me, my Husband believe it or not :rolleyes1. We normally buy lots of designer clothes, shoes etc for our boys as they are so cheap and my husband goes mad, he bought a TAG watch when we went in November hence the $4000! We don’t always spend that much, that would be ridiculous! We normally take with us $4000 in total which includes money for souvenirs and clothes etc. I think it could be done with $3000 if you don’t go mad and eat at Disney 24/7 and steer clear of the shopping malls!

Totally depends where you eat and how much shopping you do.

We dont like Disney Dining so its a lot cheaper for us eating offsite. Also very rarely buy anything without a voucher/discount. Always print off buy 1 get 1 free meals or 20% off etc. before we fly.
Luckily none of us into shopping
Easter we spent approx £1,000 for 14 nights for 3 adults. Expecting to spend around £2,000 in August for 25 nights.

Have a wee look about - I posted a thread about this a few weeks ago and got loads of useful answers!

as a family of 4, we always take $4000 and we have a great time.(+ credit card if needed) we hit the shops, bring clothes and trainers home. eat big breakfast off-site, light lunch around parks and resturant off-site on evening. we do dinner shows and off site activites.

Very difficult question to answer, can depend on where you are staying, how much shopping you will do, are you eating out at restaurants a lot , are you taking a credit card and have you already bought your theme park tickets?

I would say possibly a minimum $3000, we generally take about $4000 but usually bring at least $1000 back with us. Naturally if you are using a credit card for shopping etc these figures can vary.

Our favourite buffet is Sweet Tomatoes, register on their website and enter your birthday as the day you travel, they send you a voucher a few days before you go.
Same with Ghirridelli sundaes (although last one did not come thru)
Premium outlets lets you print shopping vouchers eg 20% off at Reebok after any instore sale prices.
Basically register with websites you might want to go to, they like to send birthday offers so make sure your birthday is day you travel. I then Google for vouchers and discounts just before we go. As a last resort pick up a mountain of voucher books when we get there. Always get 10-20% off which pays for the tip.

Thanks I will give it a go.

Depens on if this is your first time .If it is you will be wowed by the whole shopping and souvenirs thing, plus there are some brilliant bargains to be had on desighner clothes(bought loads of tommy hillfigher and calvin klein stuff). We took $2500 last year but that was to pay for wedding photos(extra ones ) and our wedding licence. We did have our tickets and the DDP .I still spent about 350.00 on my credit card though but we did buy a LOTof things. This year we are taking $3300 dollars as I don't want to have to think"can we afford that cocktail or bottle of wine"not that we drink much. Its always better to take more then you can always bring it back,:thumbsup2
