Spending January & Feburary at OKW!!

We just made reservations for 3 weeks in January and 3 more weeks in Februrary at our home resort OKW! This will be the first time we have spent a good part of the Winter at DVC/WDW, needless to say we both our feeling elated! We just purchased a resale this past Spring, before the points started to escalate, enough points to spend a good portion of the Winter at OKW. This will be one year that we will be happy for Winter to get here! We even have some points left over, so perhaps next Winter we can go for 8 weeks!! We figured this is cheaper then renting or buying property in FL. for the Winter season. I guess this makes us true SNOW BIRDS!!!!! We are just so HAPPY, and want to tell everyone!

Boy, am I envious. These cold winters in the northeast are really getting to me. To escape the cold dreary months of January and February is wonderful. Have a great trip home !

We have dreamed about doing this in the future too. What are you doing about a car while you're there? Do you plan to drive down?

That's the one glitch we anticipate since Washington state would be abit of a road trip!

This is EXACTLY what I'm planning on doing - only proably from the second week of Jan thru to the mid of April - proably spliting between BWV & OKW. I've got about 1/3 of the points together so far to do that.

PLEASE keep us posted and have a blast watching the pictures on the weather channel - of exactly what you're missing!!

In reply to CarnotaurDad and JoEllen"s guestions, we have our mail delivered to a realtive who lives nearby and we visit them ever week or so and at the same time get the mail. Almost all of our bills our paid via electronic transfer, so the mail is mostly credit card appliacations anyway!! We drive down, living in South Jersey the trip is not that long, so we have our own transportation while there. I agree that to drive from Washington state would be a bit to much!!! Thank you all for your responses. You just can't imagine how excited we are!!

If not, you cn always rent a P O Box and have your mail forwarded to it.

Congratulations from me too! It sounds like a great plan and I have a similar thing in mind when we reach retirement - only maybe not for quite so long. We also decided that it would suit our needs better than buying or renting somewhere.

I just calculated it for a Boardwalk studio - if we checked out a couple of weekends to go to Miami & Key West we could do this with some banking & borrowing!

No add on needed!

Now just to age our 3 year old DS so he is out of the house and off to college, we could do this next year! (just kidding everyone!)

We used a total of 520 points for this stay alternating between studio and 1 bedrooms, there are a couple of weekends when we will be at relatives to pickup the mail, and save a few points. We booked all the weeks at the same time, in fact Presidents week was a tough week to get, but as we booked, a unit opened for that week, so we lucked out!! I am pretty sure that we would not have been able to get anything in the month of March due to Easter Holidays and Spring break, so we didn't try.
