We have a week booked in a 1-bedroom at VGC in March. I have an uncle who lives in Palm Springs, so we are planning to spend a day at his place and might end up staying overnight.

I know this is a weird question, but I'm thinking it doesn't matter if we spend a night away during our reservation? Like they won't think we "abandoned" the room hopefully?

Since there is not daily housekeeping, I doubt they would notice. I assume you aren’t going to take all your luggage and clothes, they would see it if for some reason they went into the room.

I would just leave some stuff there. Don’t clear out your room totally.

We've done it a WDW. As someone said, since they don't go in the room, they won't know. We left some stuff in the room, and the Privacy signs on the door.

Yes we would just take a couple things for overnight and leave everything else in the room. So I think we will be okay, thanks!

We have done this many times over the years to stay 1 night at Universal Orlando in the middle of our trip [gives you 2 nights of FOTL access]. Never any problems as we only would take an overnight bag so there is still many things left out in the room.

Now, my DS enjoys Universal enough to where we stay 3 nights at the front of every trip instead.

I guess you don't want to deal with two separate reservations to save on points. Being a cheapskate, that's what I'd do.

Lol, I would do the same thing-- and break up the reservation in two, saving myself one night's worth of points. MS could easily break it up for you....

But packing up, checking in, checking out, all that takes a lot of time. I can see the appeal of sneaking away for the night with a simple overnight back. Speedy, efficient.

We’re going over to Universal for one night too. We have our room in OKW booked direct through Disney and got free DDP so it’s worth keeping our accommodation going while we’re away for the dining credits (and lack of hassle). I hadn’t thought about it being an issue not actually being there as long as all our stuff is still in the room. We will get maid service everyday - do you think there will be any problems with not sleeping there for one night?

They won't drop a day in the middle. At the beginning, yes. At the end, yes. So you could lose the reservation by doing this.
