Speedos: Love or hate them?

I guess it is no worse than seeing some women in thongs. I honestly do not care for them on anyone swimmer or not.

I understand why swimmers and divers wear them, but that doesn't mean I like seeing them still So doesn't matter to me who is wearing them, or how good their bodies are, I do not care for them at all... period.

For me, I swim daily for exercise..and I have found Speedo products to wear better and are more comfortable during long lap sessions in the pool. Most men and women wear them in the pool here when exercising. However, on a public beach I still prefer the more traditional male swim trunks.

Now those of you that fall into the other category, please be mindful of what damage you may do to those around you if you insist on wearing a speedo. When I was much younger my mom and I went to the beach. One of the first things I see is an older man with a distorted view of physical fitness and enough vanity for the entire beach parading up and down the beach in a white speedo, two or three sizes too small and NO LINING!! I learned a lot about male anatomy that day and I wasn't at an age to learn such things!! It is an imagine that has unfortunately burned into my mind.

I think I need to go see if swimming is on.....

You may not believe this, but many European pools only permit speedo-type suits for men. Seriously. I found this out when I was researching our trip to Paris. If you search on the DLP board, I bet you will find queries as to whether the Disney hotels require speedo type suits.

I have NO idea of the rationale! Imagine being an older heavy male and being REQUIRED to wear one of those if you wanted to swim. I can't imagine what I'd do if our city pool told me I HAD to wear a bikini!

This topic reminds me of the movie a night at the roxbury with Will Ferrel from SNL when they were walking down the beach and that is just not right.

My husband has worn a speedo ever since he was on the high school swim team. He has a body that a 25 yr old would envy. So I guess I am used to it, and if you've got the "six-pack" (yes, he does. ) flaunt it. I wish I had the body to match his...

I just saw "A Night at the Roxbury" yesterday, Diznyfan. You are so right...on those 2...ewwww... but those were kinda, "thong" speedos. that was definitely icky...

Last time we went to WDW, we spent a few days in Treasure Island first and nearly every old man there was wearing a Speedo. And none of them were in the kind of shape to be wearing one. Now the 40ish guy who walked up the beach in his thong was in great shape (DH was the one who pointed him out to me.)
