Hello!

Has anyone used them? Are they okay?

We're taking the car and looked into the options and they seem the cheapest.

We're going in october, are they affected much by sea conditions?

Thanks :)

The speed ferries are great, but do get cancelled regularly due to bad weather. Usually if this happens, you will be accomodated on a conventional ferry at he time. Given the weather at the moment, it will probably be grand in October:rotfl:

I was wondering what would happen if the crossing was cancelled but you're right, probably be a heatwave then lol

I have known them to cancel crossing too due to "technical reasons" even when the weather was good. If that happens I imagine they have to make alternative arrangements like the ferry & eurotunnel do.

We've used speedferries several times to get back 'home' to UK. Never had a problem, although a couple of the crossings were somewhat 'bumpy' (not good if, like me, boats aren't your thing  )
They also do special offers which would possibly appeal to AP holders, where you can buy x amount of crossing up front for x amount of pounds and this guarantees the price for 2 years

I've done a large number of crossings on ferries over the years (I used to live on an island and had to take a ferry to get off the island, and have taken them in many countries, crossing some wild waters). The Dover ferry was the only one ever to make me feel ill; I recall a lot of 'hostesses' walking around with trays of filled vomit bags! (This was in spring, with moderate winds)

I don't know what it was about that particular ferry on that particular route, but it still stands out in my memory!
