Warm up the English muffin and the sauce first. Then put the sauce on the English muffin and top with cold cheese. Toasting the English muffin lightly will help prevent the soggy bread problem too.
If you are using an oven, cook the concoction on the lower rack and perhaps with the door open a bit to hopefully keep the top of the cheese cooler. If you are using a toaster oven, keep the door about half open. If you are using a microwave oven I haven't a clue other than to cook it at a lower power for a longer time.
