Spectrum Moms Take on The World! Our Last Day...Multiple Posts!

MeMom...we really did get along wonderfully...you'd think 7 "cooks in the kitchen" would prove somewhat disatrous it...but honesty even though at times a few would split from the main pack, we had some excellent laughs and too much fun that just overflowed out of those 4 days....We began to shred down the layers in talks about our own personal experiences of being a Spectrum Mom and how that looks and feels for each one of us...but this trips was the rock that has formed an amazing lasting bond now between us 7...Kathy started us a closed FB group where we talk (and talk) all the time not just about Disney stuff and planning but about the serious stressors of life that we each face.

I personally don't know what I would do each day if it wasn't for the virtual pixiedust I recieve from them ************************************************** or the support and advice.

These ladies are my beloved sisters now and I thank the Disney stars for bringing us together and can't wait till I see them again :goodvibes

It makes me smile to hear that. We, too, have made some fabulous friends through the DIS. :)

The pictures of everyone gathered around the Kim Possible phone are cute. You girls were really in super-sleuth mode!

Thanks, Me-Mom. One thing I discovered on this trip is that adults need "play time" too!

Julie this touched my heart. It is wonderful to hear how you are all there for each other. Most of us do not understand all of what you all go through so to have the support from each other just sounds great!!

And just to think it all started with a mouse.:goodvibes

Lovely snack choice- althought I'd have never guessed it, and didn't. HAHA~ But it did look good for a chilly evening pick-me-up.

Mmmmm... a French man holding frosty bevvies. My oh my!

OH gawrsh!I'd have never guessed sour candies. Ah well... good to know you didn't have to drink yucky sake!! :lmao:

Yes, Heidi, let's do share some chockies some time! :cloud9:

Sake! :scared1: Never tried it, probably never will! ;)

It's taken me a couple of days to read this whole report. But I've really enjoyed your girls only trip. You all look like you're having such a great time together, that one would think that you are life long friends.

:welcome: We may not have been life long friends before... but we certainly are now!

I completely agree with Julie on this one... we got along so well during the trip! And have become even closer since we've been back and continue to check in with each other every day. We may not all have time to touch base every day but there are enough of us that someone always has something to offer when one of us is looking for advice. I definitely rely on the other moms!

I love hearing how you all got along and formed such a wonderful bond!!! I really do feel that I have met some of the best people through the DIS and am so lucky to have done so!!!

OOOH...that orange coffee sounds amazing!! I'm a huge fan of orange flavored stuff so I might have to give that a try!!!

There will be MANY stops at the caramel shop for me this trip and I'm pretty sure some things are coming home with me LOL!

Normally it would be a bit too chilly for a frozen slushie drink... but we were determined to discover what all the raves were about!

There's a true spirit of loving support among us...I'm so glad that we've become such good friends!

Hopefully there will be another Spectrum Moms trip in the future! :thumbsup2

Oh, the smells inside that shop! :lovestruc I'm with you, Jen, this is a must-do from now on!

DIS-Friends are the best!!

I love this game, too bad I'm not very good at it:sad2:

It was an edible scavenger hunt! Most of us had absolutely no idea what we would end up with!

Now is that for the drink or the French man holding them???:rotfl2:

Now, Pat! :rolleyes1 Don't get me in trouble!

(Believe me, I only had eyes for that slushie!)

Aww, thanks Julie! DH still doesn't believe me that we got along so well. It was like we have known each other forever. :lovestruc

The night at Epcot was so much fun, not something I would do with the kids.

Loving the game!!! And all of you found something tasty! :thumbsup2 I need to take notes to try some of these things.

Sorry for the hold up everyone, our family is preparing for a big move, we finally acquired a place to live and leave in a week and a half, so we have been packing like crazy.

It was now my turn to brave the sip-n-snack game and I had pulled France and Cheese out of the bag. Originally I was very excited about my picks but at this point I really wasn’t feeling like eating any cheese as my stomach was really hurting and being a less than adventurous eater I was having a really hard time picking something. I really need a do-over on my pick, but I ended up with the turkey and cheese sandwich (I don’t remember what kind of cheese it was, but it was something I never had before). It was very big and I didn’t finish it and don’t think I would order it again. Here are the pictures:

And now to end the game all three players Tinkermom76, Dreamer&Wisher, and All7OfUs have tied for first, so pm me your address and I’ll get a fun little Disney treat in the mail to you. Congrats to all of you and thanks for playing

I am enjoying all your sip and snack updates. Thanks for sharing some yummy things I never knew about - like the tangerine coffee. That looks perfect for a cold night. And, of course, the slushies look good any time of day or night, warm or cold weather.

Congratulations!!! Thanks for playing along!!

The game was a lot of fun & a great way to work our way around the World Showcase. And now the real fun could begin... ;)

Wha...!!!?? For reals?? Hmmmm... either that means I was pretty danged lucky, or I spend WAY too much time on the menus! :lmao::lmao::lmao:

PM coming up!!! And thanks for such a fun, creative and thoughtful game, Ladies. I loved the idea!!

Aw, I'm sorry the sandwich didn't hit the spot, it looked like it had a LOT of whatever cheese it was on it.

Fun seeing all of the sip and snacks!

The Rhyme of the Orange Mariner

(With apologies to Samuel Taylor Coleridge)

Slushes, slushes, everywhere,
Consumed within a blink;
Slushes, slushes everywhere,
We every drop did drink!

While Jessica was purchasing her turkey and cheese sandwich, Tracy & I obtained two slushes from the nearby Les Vins des Chefs de France kiosk. No matter that the temps were dropping :cold: and we were bundled up with multiple layers under our sweatshirts… we were going to try those famous slushes no matter what!

I felt like having the Grand Marnier (orange) and Tracy chose the Grey Goose (lemon) slush:

Tracy & Me:

I think the pairing of a wide, shallow glass with the thick Slurpee-type straw was a bit awkward; I eventually chucked the straw and sipped directly from my plasticware.

Brrrrrrrrr!!!
(But oh-so-yummy!)

Jessica & Me:

Admittedly I am quite uneducated when it comes to cocktails; when I do drink nowadays its usually wine. So, I decided to do a little research for this post:

Grand Marnier is a liqueur created in 1880 by Alexandre Marnier-Lapostolle. It is made from a blend of true cognacs and distilled essence of bitter orange.

The liqueur is used to make numerous cocktails including (take a deep breath): the Cosmopolitan, Margarita, Sidecar, Dirty Harry, Grand Mimosa, B-52, the Grand Marnier Smash, The Grand Smash, The Smash Marnier, The Bloody Smash, The Maced Marnier, The Ace Marnier Smash, Frosty Smash, The Smace, The Grand Hound, The Blood Pug, The Clarke, The Nogley and the Grand Marnier Fireball.

Whew! That’s a lot of cocktails! I’ve only tried one out of the entire bunch: the B-52 (shot).

Well, you see, I went to college in the eighties….

Oh, never mind!

Guess I’ve never been much of a mixed-drink person. On top of that, the older I get, the less I seem to drink. When I do get the opportunity to indulge, two glasses is pretty much my limit. (My husband jokes that I’ve become “a cheap date!”)

I found the slushes to be quite strong, but for $9 a pop –- hey -- they should be!! :rolleyes1

Anyway, I inadvertently kept my friends laughing because instead of saying “Grand Marnier”, I kept calling it “Grand Mariner” (as in, Rhyme of the Ancient___!) They jokingly corrected me several times, but it was no use… especially after I had slurped down the second one!

Ah well, C'est la vie!

Me with “The Mariner”

Anne Marie and Julie took the polar plunge as well and were soon enjoying their Grey Goose Slushes. Amy will have to tell you about her French Kiss (was it pomegranate-flavored?) I don’t remember if Jess had anything at this point… her tummy was a bit off and I can’t even cheat by looking at the following picture because she was the one taking it!!

The Gang:

And where was Mom Number Seven? Well, it was around this time that we received a text from Heidi; she had scored us the perfect viewing spot for Illuminations! Frosty drinks in hand, we were soon off to the U.K. Pavilion! :yay:

To be continued...
