Spectrum Moms Take on The World! Our Last Day...Multiple Posts!

Well we have been in One Man’s Dream for a little while now…. :rolleyes1

As we exited from the movie at the end and re stretched our legs, I suggested we should go in the Animation Hub real quick to see how long the line was for Sorcerer Mickey. We all thought it would be pretty cool to get a group shot w/ him. Bummer the line was pretty full and we knew we would need to get back over to Sunset Blvd soon to eat and then get in line for the 8:00 pm showing of F!

But hey look over there ladies…

Frozone and Mr. Incredible were out and only a few guests in line, so I said come on let’s go get a picture w/ them! Heidi went up first to have them sign her autograph book…aww so cute:

Then we all jumped in for a picture, there was no Photopass Photographer here, but the CM’s there were great about taking our group shots for us and the other guests behind (w/ little kids) were smiling and laughing at how much fun we 7 grown-up’s were having.

After a nice pose…I said “hey wait super hero pose!”

2011_0120Misc0106.jpg

So there we stood in these funky positions sporting our super hero MOM pose and laughing as the CM changed cameras… I wasn’t sure how much longer Amy and I could keep our legs up like that.

This picture and moment is one of many great moments and memories from the trip…but really look at us…7 Super MOM’s on vacation together laughing and truly enjoying this moment…would you ever now we really just all “met” a few hours ago or what we actually deal w/ on a daily basis and how important this trip was…not really.

Kathy truly captured this favorite pix of ours the best in one of her latest BLOG posts…if you haven’t read it here is the link to it:

WDW Autism Adventures: Incredible Super Powers of Disney Spectrum Moms

When we were done expressing our alternate identities, we made our way over back toward Sunset Blvd…too bad though those Super Powers wouldn’t help this situation…

It couldn’t have been much past 7 pm (am I right ladies?) but the line for F! was already more than ½ way down the street…we couldn’t believe it. We jumped in the back of line and tried to figure out what to do next. Do we try and take turns getting food and stay in this line or abort ship? :confused3

Amy and I of course needed to use the little girl’s room and split, when we came out we couldn’t see them it was quite the mob scene :crowded:…we finally saw one of them waving frantically at us…and when we rejoined the line, Heidi announced they have decided to abort ship…I admit at first I was slightly disappointed…but knew this really was the way to go.

We headed back down the other end of the park to find some food and decide what was next…

But where would we eat and what would we do?

Stay tuned… popcorn::

My girls like to potty all the time, potty all the time, potty all the time... ;)

Here's a picture of that massive crowd waiting for the Hollywood Hills ampitheater to open:

The "line" stretched all the way down Sunset Blvd! It was a tough call to make; we were all looking forward to Fantasmic. But, Yikes!!

What would you do??

Kathy

That picture is the BEST! You guys are super moms!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looks like a couple of kickboxers in the mix, very impressive!

Oh the Fantasmic lines and crush. UGH! I can just picture it, both the reality of needing to abort and the disappointment. Very much the right call I'd think and I can't wait to see what you guys did next.

I love the Super Moms pictures, you look like you are having so much fun!!

They really need to add a day or two of F! back in. The lines to get in are ridiculous and they need to think, if we are standing in that stupid line we aren't spending money.

The decision to abort the F! line was more about not wanting to be packed in like sardines in the theater with a BAZILLION of our Brazilian friends for an hour then it was about waiting in the line. And it was humid....this was the nice warm day of the trip. Plus trying to get dinner in some fashion before the show. I was pretty confident that it would be more trouble then it was worth. I would say that 95%+ of the guests in the park were on Sunset Blvd at that moment.:scared1:

Oh and by the way......I leave for Disney in 6 hours!!!!!!!

So woefully behind on our reader shout-outs; let me try to catch up!

I did! I'm excited to see it!

That Abe Lincoln AA is very cool looking, Joe will really get into seeing that. Is he new? I don't recall seeing it before.

Perhaps; I didn't recall it, either! So relevant b/c "he" was the prototype for many future AAs...

Great OMD pictures. That is one attraction I have never done because I figured the kids would be bored, maybe I will have to see it!

It's worth a try... they may enjoy it!

Love reading all the updates. We will need to do OMD again. It has been a few years.

What I like is that it's a self-guided tour; you spend as much or as little time as you like.

Finally caught up. I haven't been around for awhile. I loved all the updates and it was great reading the different viewpoints. Can't wait to read more.

Sorry we made you wait!

Please excuse our TR, it is being refurbished for your future enjoyment....

:rotfl:

that's hysterical!

Aw, stinkin' Photobucket!!

Yay, we're back!

Sorry for that; we're trying to get by without "going pro" on this account!!

That picture is the BEST! You guys are super moms!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks!

Hint: we were starting to get hungry!

Decreasing the # of Fantasmic showings has had such a huge impact on crowd levels at DHS... I wish they would go back to shows every night!

And yes, we were having fun! The first day is always the sweetest!

True, that!

Thank you, all, for reading

Super moms with super power! You girls got it going on in the picture and in everyday life. Those are some great pictures!

I have to say, even with super powers, I probably would have given up on that ridiculous line!

Fun update!

Kathy - great blog! You're such a talented writer!

Love the Super Mom's pic!!:thumbsup2 You all look like you are having such a wonderful time together. I am thinking of Amy down there this week.

Thanks, Mary Ellen!

You would never know from those pix that the Super Moms were starting to poop out a bit... travel day is always exhausting... we were running on pure first day adrenaline!

Me too; I hope she gets good weather all week!

Thanks for reading!

LOVE the Super-Mom picture!!! Fabulous!

Yikes on the F! crowd - I really do want my kids to see this on our next trip but really do not want to deal with that! Ugh...

Kathy, another great "faces in the queue" article! Fascinating story!

Sara

Longtime lurker, first time poster on your TR. Just wanted to say great article about visiting Disney with diabetes. I teach first grade and have a student in my class with Type 1 diabetes and an insulin pump. It is amazing to watch him monitor his own health independently. He whizzes through testing and bolusing for meals and snacks. Truly remarkable for a 6 year old!

Looking forward for the next installment of the TR.

Thanks, Sara! :flower3:

In busier seasons they do increase the number of Fantasmic showings, which does help reduce the crowds somewhat. As Heidi mentioned earlier, we seemed to hit DHS on the same day that all the Tour Groups did!

Thanks so much, and :welcome: to the report!!

After we put up the white flag and retreated from the insane crowds over on Sunset Blvd we made our way toward the main hub of the Studios…

this is when we stopped and took our group shot under Mickey’s Hat (that Kathy posted a few posts back) and continued on into to what seemed like a ghost town…there was hardly anyone over here.

2011_0120Misc0076.jpg

With some major rumbly tummies, we sought out FOOD! It was just past 7:30 pm now and our first stop Backlot Express was Strike One…closed. :headache: We wandered past the temporary closed Star Tours and ended up at by Pizza Planet…Strike Two… closed. Studio Catering Company was Strike Three too…come on now where are we going to eat?:confused3

We back tracked over to the ABC commissary…not a general favorite among the group but this was our only option at this point.

2011_0120Misc0108.jpg

This place was pretty empty too. We got in line to order and Amy was trying to find out what was in the Asian Salad…I think the CM said something like “Salad”

I think she ended up getting it w/ no dressing and most of us ordered the Fish and Chips

01202011086.jpg

Heidi later commented that she was pleasantly surprised with the ABC Comm., “I had dismissed it from bad reviews. But I had one of those "you should try everything at Disney for yourself at least once because YOU might like it" moments.”

We enjoyed relaxing for a few moments and talking w/ each other, it was decided we should try and give the Toy Story Mainia Midway stand-by line a whirl (we kept checking the times on our multiple LINES apps on several of our phones) and see if we can get in and out before the F! crowds start exiting.

So off we went!

I remember us scrambling to find someplace to eat that was open! The Commissary was okay... I think I had a kid's meal chicken nuggets. I remember that I was feeling a bit tired at this point; the early wake-up and the excitement of the day was beginning to catch up with me.

Our "consolation prize" for missing out on Fantasmic: Now we could all play Toy Story Midway Mania! (Something we had reluctantly planned on missing.)

Fantasmic was in full swing, draining much of the park, but the Standby wait was listed as 50 minutes! Would that be spot-on? Tune in later and find out!
