Does anyone have experiences with Spectrum Mobile Phone service- good or bad. We have them for internet and they advertise to us all the time to also switch our mobile to them. It does seem cheaper, but I worry about their service. They say they use Verizon's towers and that' who I currently have now.

No direct experience but the ”back door“ carriers work just as well as they network they are on. In the end they just lease with usually lessor customer service ie retail stores. There are some that are directly owned: T Mobile owns Metro by T mobile and Boost mobile since they own what was sprint. ATT owns one as well that I forget. I do not think Verizon directly owns any. Visible wireless is also Verizon network and there are others. The only reason to stay with one of the big 3 names is if you travel overseas and want you phone to still work but it is not cheap either way. If that came up you can rent a phone which woukd likely be less expensive then using your own with included minutes.

Spectrum does use Verizon's towers, but if you get into a space that is crunched for signal, Spectrum customers get throttled before Verizon.

Just make sure you understand the terms. Spectrum likes to bundle its pricing. If you try their mobile phone service, and then decide you don't like it and want to drop it, what will happen to your pricing on the services you are keeping?

Also - if you are someone who likes getting your bills in the mail (rather than paperless billing), when Spectrum makes any kind of change to your service, you mysteriously get switched to paperless billing. If you don't want paperless billing, make sure you specifically ask, as the last thing in your phone conversation, if you will still get bills in the mail.

In my experience Spectrum Mobile and the other Spectrum services are not bundled together. Often when I call for support on my other Spectrum services, they don't even know I have Mobile already (they always offer it to me), and I've made changes on either side and they don't affect each other. They are also billed separately. Other than having to have Spectrum Internet to get mobile, they aren't really tied together. YMMV but that has been my experience the last 5 or so years.

We have had Spectrum mobile for a couple of years. The only place we have issues is in the town where we used to work. Very little service but we had very little service there when we had Verizon also. We were told by a Verizon rep that Spectrum is like third down the pole in service on Verizon’s network so I guess, like another poster said, we would get throttled before the regular Verizon customers. We feel that we have just as good of service now as we did with Verizon for WAY less money. We pay $60 a month for unlimited.
