Spectromagic parade....robots?

I have seen the spectromagic parade only once (LOVED IT!) And I remember thinking that the strange guys with the red hair & glowing faces in the beginning of the parade (not disney characters, at least that I know of anyway) seemed almost robotic, that they couldn't be people in costumes. Then after watching the videotape & getting a closer look they do seem real....some of them anyway. The few that are on top of the rolling orbs seemed like they could be robots with the person inside driving. Am I not the only one who thought this?

the only robots (animatronics) in spectro are Jimmie Cricket and Sebastian. They are not puppets, but fully programed to interact with the parade trigers.

all the spectro men are human. And the ones on the rolling orbs, are a two person team.

The only free moving audioanimatronic figure in WDW- and, as far as I know, anywhere in the world- is Lucky the Dinosaur.

When I first saw Spectro in 1996 while in high school, those guys really freaked me out. I have had a thing about clowns since I saw "Poltergeist" as a child, and I guess they reminded me of creepy clowns.

I saw the parade last Sat. for the first time. We always heard it in the background or walked past it, but DH never wanted to sit and watch. I LOVED it! So did my little ones! I remember a thread a while back with people saying how they didn't like the Spectro Men, they they freaked them out. After seeing the parade, I really like them. I thought they were kinda cute, and I love how they move. It's so funny.
