We'll be at DW at the end of April with our 2 yr old daughter and I would love for her to see the Spectromagic Parade (even though it's past her bedtime).

Is it a good idea to plan to have dinner at Crystal Palace (or Tony's Tavern) beforehand and then be able to hop out of the restaurant to see the parade?

I'm not sure how well we will be able camp out for a good viewing spot with a squirmy 2 yr old. And speaking of, where are some good spots to watch the parade?

Any tips? Suggestions?

TIA!!!!

Maybe consider dinner at LTT. Main Street will be much more crowded than the street that it's on. Might be easier to grab a seat when you exit.

The streets get packed up to 45 minutes before the parade. I don't care for Tony's but love Crystal Palace. When my DD was 2 she didn't make it to the parade. And that was with a nap earlier in the day. For sure bring the stroller. Also when it looks like there are no seats left on Main Street there is always a place infront of the garbage cans lol! We like a spot across to the facade with the movie theater on Main Street.

With a squirmy 2 yo I might skip a sit down meal and instead grab some counter service to eat while you're waiting for the parade. That way you can grab a good spot in plenty of time and keep the little one busy until the parade.

Maybe also bring a couple of small toys or a glow necklace from the dollar store-I usually do this to keep my 4 yo dd busy while we wait.

ITA with this. We always watch it on Main St. and we get there at least an hr. beforehand, but by the time you feed your kiddo dinner, play a little, ppl. watch and maybe do some ice cream you should be good. I've taken my dd at 17 months and 2 1/2 and both times had no problems waiting for the parade (now our sit down meals were a completely different story:rotfl:.)

Funny story but as newbies we didn't even know what Spectromagic was! LOL We were just strolling down Main Street and noticed people lining the sidewalks. Since it was early we got a "prime spot" near the hat shop, I think it was called "Chapeau" or something (we ran in and got my 5 mo old son some personalized ears). We got to see everything up close and personal. I advice to get a good seat 45 min to an hour before it starts. We got our seats an hour beforehand

That's a great idea about doing counter service for dinner!!!! I'm so glad you're all here with lots of tips!

We're definitely bringing the stroller! And glow sticks! I love glow sticks!

Thanks!!!

We totally lucked out last year..DD was just shy of two and since it was late she was not happy to camp out in one spot waiting. We were actually going to leave MK and go back to our resort when found a ton of spots in front of the train station to the left (if you're facing the castle) We were right where they rope off and let people leave during little gaps in the parade. It was perfect for us since we weren't sure how long DD would last and it was perfect because as soon as the parade was over we turned around and walked right out, stepped right on a bus and went back to the resort:thumbsup2

This is a good tip! A fast escape could be very handy! :thumbsup2
