When Spectro is only shown once or twice during the week, as I expect it will be during our early December visit....which direction does it come from: Main Street to Frontierland or Vice Versa?

It starts at Main Street and ends at Frontierland, next to Splash Mountain.

The best place to stand is in Liberty Square, in front of those stockade things. The parade comes at oyu, then turns in front of you, so you get two views of it. A CM gave us this hint 12 years ago when we were there on our honeymoon, and he was right. We have stood in other spots, but IMHO, that spot is best.

Another spot where you get the "curve effect" is on Main Street in front of the EMporium. A couple of CMs have told us that for the nighttime parades, Main Steet is better since it is the beginning of the parade route, and the characters are highly interactive. By the end of the route, near Pecos Bills, many of them are just ready to get done.

We witnessed this on our past trip -- about three characters who should have been spread out, all kind of rushed past, not waving or saying anything, just looking at the "goal line." Also, the Chernabog float did not open at the end, so everyone from about LTT down just saw this big lump of a "mountain" pass by. We decided we'd stick with Main Street for the night parades after that.

However, the afternoon parades run in the opposite direction, starting in Frontierland and ending around the hub at Main Street.

Thanks for the info! I think we might check out the spot you talk about in Liberty Square, Disney Doll...we were already leaning toward finding a spot off of Main Street, and that sounds ideal :). How early for Spectro (during the off-season) should we consider staking our spot over in Liberty Square?

We like to watch it in Town Square, where it starts. It makes is easier to get out of the park if you are leaving afterwards. I've seen it in Liberty Square or Frontierland and prefer Town Square or Main Street, it just seems more magical there. The Chernabog float does not open in Frontierland because the street is not wide enough there.

My thought is that if the parade is run twice that night, wouldn't it go one direction for the early show and the opposite for the late one?

Yes, doombuggy, I imagine you are right when they show two parades in an evening. But I think we are planning on viewing the Spectromagic parade on a Wednesday night (using the historical dates and times information here), if they offer it, and it looks like it's usually only shown at 6pm during that weekday evening in early December.

If it is only shown once an evening, would it come from Main Street to Frontierland like other people have indicated?

Also the Chernabog float doesn't open at other places because it doesn't have enough space. It's wing span is HUGE!
