My DH signed up for the Family run and DDiL signed up for the 1/2 marathon for '10.

If the family is staying at VWL will we be able to watch them at some point in those events by using WDW transportation, or do we need to have our own car, or is it virtually impossible to get inside the parks to see the runners, and we should be happy just to be at the start/finish?

Thank you.

Hi :wave2:
There are many places to watch runners and that all depends on many factors. How early do you want to be up, how much traveling around and waiting do you want to do. FOr the 5K race you would need to either drive you car over to AK early or take the race transportation provided by race buses. You can't view races on most of the course because the park just isn't open at that time, so you can see them at the beginning as they make a loop around the parking lot and at the end.
The Half spectating is a whole other story and again that would depend on how early you want to get up, your runners start time and your runner's pace. That will have alot to do with where and when you will get to spot her. Start viewing is very early and you can't see much because you are kinda far from the runners on the road. You can view from the T&TC, MK Main Street, Streets outside of the Grand FL or Poly. and Disney bus area at EPCOT, inside EPCOT near World Showcase and the finish.
Here is a link to another thread and there some others spread around on this WISH thread.

Good thing is that you have ALOT of time to figure it all out.

Thank you...I found the link...and will be planning with my family. You're right, we have just about a year.

My recommendation is to take the boat to the Contemporary to watch the 1/2. It runs right by the hotel and they had a DJ out front. The boat starts at 6:45 so I think you'd be there on time (although you'd better check that). I ran the 1/2 but watched a lot of runners from the full from in front of the Contemporary. It was a blast!

OK...I wasn't sure the boats would be running. This is very good news!
