My ydd has lots of allergies so her and I have a very limited diet. We're staying at AKL and would like some safe foods for us for breakfast and such. There's not much on the shopping list that we can use, no milks on there for us etc. Those of you who have gone through this, what did you do? We're only there for 4 days and then we cruise (I need to call them as well to see if we can bring food on board w/ us). Any other helpful tips for doing WDW w/ allergies?

You might want to cross post on the disABILITIES! board. There are many of us over there with multiple food allergies/intollerances.

One of my girls can't have gluten, milk, eggs, yeast, citrus or MSG. My other girl can't have milk, citrus, hazelnuts, brazilnuts, peanuts, blueberries, cranberries or sesame. We eat VERY well at Disney. The chefs at Disney are AMAZING at handling all kinds of food allergies.

What allergies are you dealing with? I can help give you an idea of some types of options you'll have, though you'll want to contact the Special Diets department to get the most up to date lists of safe foods and locations where they can be found.

Special Diets always has the chef from my resort call me at home ahead of my trip. The chefs at the resorts always come up with some amazing foods for my girls. This past trip, one of my girls ate pizza every day. They custom made it for them because the standard gluten free crust wasn't safe and we required soy cheese and the chef knew the vegan slices they use wouldn't work well on pizzas so they special ordered really good stuff. Since none of the allergy baked goods are safe for my 12 year old, they special baked up a large batch of brownies just for them. We also had chefs from several of our TS ADRs call us to discuss likes and dislikes and the details of our allergies.

WDW is the best place in the world to travel with food allergies.

Thanks, I'll post over there. We mostly deal w/ dairy, soy, egg, wheat, corn, tomato, cherries, limes, grapes, and a few others that she can't have directly (I'm nursing). Im hoping by then we'll have a slightly more open diet, but I'm not counting on it.

One option is to look into Garden Grocer or something similiar, where you can order groceries delivered to the resort. If it's not on Garden Grocer's online list, you can add notes and specify what you want. They've always done a great job for me.

How sensitive is the corn allergy? Is it just corn and corn syrups or all corn derivitives? Corn could be the most challenging if it includes all corn products because ingredients do not have to list if they are derived from corn as they do from the big 8. Sometimes you have to call the company on each ingredient's origin. If you can stick with plain meats, fruits, and veggies, you should be able to do it.

Right now I'm mostly corn free. I let a few derivatives slip in my diet, but not much. Nothing w/ corn at all directly for her. I posted on the other board too and have gotten some great ideas! Love that everyone is so smart here, lol.
