Special Welcome Home Trip and Orientation Call

I booked a vacation with my first resale contract. <YAY> Then bought a small direct add-on a week after I spent all of my points.

Do I get Welcome Home Special Treatment on my very first time I step on property (next trip) as DVC member even though I used resale points? Or will this happen when I actually use that contract>?
I was going to wait for my Direct member orientation call but...trip is coming up! Wonder how much access they have to MS.

I don't want to call in and be on hold with MS....but I will if I have to. But asking for special, special is different than being special. lol
 

We just bought a couple years ago and nothing special happened? We bought direct, when I go into the park sometimes the Mickey had turns pink for a second, which honestly I do find exciting but that was it.
 
I've heard that if you call to book your very first stay as a DVC member they will try to get you into your chosen resort, even if it's not available on-line. Is this not the case anymore?

This is still the case. But it only applies to a first contract, which must be bought direct, and the very first booking you make.

If you are a resale member who buys direct, it does not apply. If you have already booked, nope. Only way you get anything special as a new direct buyer with any prior contract is to negotiate it before signing.

We bought direct in October 2020 and when I called for the first time, they did not offer anything special. The availability was the exact same as the website. That was was my first experience at least.

When you called whom? Member Services?

My first purchase was direct, and the Welcome Home visit was something my Guide discussed with me.

I think people who just bought direct and are wanting to book their first trip just a few months out will get the best benefit.

I had no problem getting what I wanted on my own after joining, because I bought a year before I wanted to stay.

So, did you ask for something that wasn't available and not get it or were able to get what you wanted and it was also available online, so it didn't matter?
 
So, if you’re talking about a welcome home booking-my understanding is that they will only assist you if it’s your first contract, direct, and your first booking.

You mentioned Welcome Home Special Treatment when you arrive on property and that’s not a thing.
 
So we bought in October 2020 and traveled end of December through the 1st week of January. We said we didn't mind a split stay for the 12 days. We owned at AKV, VGF, and CC. We had wanted to stay at either, CC, Poly, BCV. None of those were available according to Member services and we decided on a split at AKV and SS, which were available also on the website when I looked. Which were great but wanted to try some other resorts for the purpose of buying resale.

Yes, it happened to my husband for the first time last week and he was bragging to me about it ALL DAY. It was cute and I got why he was so happy. Now our kids are all jealous it doesn't work for them. 😂
 
I may cancel an existing split-stay and stay in one spot. Not sure if I want to do it though, even if available. We'll see! :) Also I'm expecting to simply talk/learn and get excited about upcoming stay!
