We are planning a big family trip to disney for december. We will be either celebrating that my husband doesn't have to tour in Iraq (he is in the army) or that would be his last month here before he leaves for 15 months. So i am trying to plan a very special trip for him. I was wondering if there was anyway to get the room decorated (pofq) before we arrived or get some things delievered. I know about disney florist i dont think he would really care for flowers. Any one know anyway i can get some things done to our room or anything special things to do for him? Thanks for any ideas :yay:

There is a lovely lady -- Peggy -- here on the DIS that does gift baskets and room decorating. We're having her do our room for our December trip. I know lots of DISers have used her and been very happy. Her website is:

Hope you have a wonderful trip!! :goodvibes

I've never heard of anyone getting the room decorated before hand -- ask the front desk! You can pack or ship decorations and go from there. I packed a 4 ft tree on our last trip....and who knows, maybe you can start a POFQ tree swap!! I think Disney florist does some Disney themed christmas trees in December, as well as Jackson and Perkins (not Disney themed, but decorated).

You could also decorate the window w/window clings, hang a wreath on an over the door or magnetic hanger.

Some other things to do in December:

* Candlelight Processional at Epcot (pay extra for dinner package will get you priority seating)

* Osborne Lights at DHS (included in admission)

* Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party at MK( extra admission)

* Santas around the world at Epcot

* Tree Lighting ceremony at Epcot

Thanks to your husband for his service and your family for your support and sacrifice...and I hope he doesn't have to deploy! Have a wonderful trip!

Thank your DH for serving our country -- My son was a Marine - Home from Iraq (safe & attending college now)
Maybe some of the family could watch your children so you & Dh could steal away a moment- Fireworks Cruise - Quiet Dinner Or just a Stroll.... :)

They can't decorate the room before you've checked in, because the pre-assignments aren't set in stone. What I would recommend is that you "suggest" the rest of the family sit and rest while you go to check in. Once you've checked in and have your room number, contact Peggy or whomever you have arranged to get decorations and gift baskets from, and have them get to work. You might even have them waiting somewhere at the resort for your call. Tell the family that "the room isn't ready yet - they said to come back at XX" and go off and have some fun. Then when you do come back, voila!
