Special trip with my girls- what should we do?

I've been to Disneyland more times that I can count. I've been an AP holder for quite a few years, but currently don't have one. Anyway, next month I'm going to surprise my girls (ages 5 & 6.5) with a 5 day trip. We'll be there from 9/27-10/1. I don't plan on telling them about it until the morning we leave. :goodvibes We'll be leaving Daddy and the boys (younger than the girls) behind.

I'm just trying to think of things to do that would make it special. I am thinking about possibly Club Libby Lu for a makeover (they've always wanted one but I hated to spend that kind of $$ on one!) and then the princess lunch.

Other than riding rides and the makeover/lunch, I'm not sure what else I can do? I'm just wondering if I'm overlooking something? I'd like to book the meal (or meals?) soon.

We'll be staying off-site & I'll have a car. Thanks for any ideas you have to share. I appreciate them!

I would skip out on the princess meal, they do not get good reviews on here, and insted, see the princesses at princess fantasy faire in DL. It is free!! I would still do a character breakfast though. Your girls would most likely enjoy Minnies breakfast at Plaza Inn, and I would make PS for that. My 2nd choice for your girls would be Goofys, and that is just cause they are the best!! (Definately make PS if you go that way).

You can also always take them into Build a Bear Workshop in DTD. Little girls love that!!

Maybe get their siloutte (sp?) pictures done on Main St., you can get them in the same portrait, or separate.

Those are my top suggestions for you!!

Have a great trip!!:wizard:

Thanks, Brandy. I've had Ariel's and it was just ok. I didn't hate it, but thought it was definitely $$ for what you got. I noticed the portion sizes got much smaller the 2nd time we did it.

We've had Goofy's before, but never Minnie's! I think that's a great idea. I always forget about them for some reason. I'll be sure to add that to my list.

We've never done PFF! I totally forgot about that. We may do that. Is it worth the wait?

I myself have never done PFF, I have all boys, and they could care less (unless we see Ariel, that is another story). From what I hear, the wait is usually about 20 minutes, and they also have crafts and such in there too. It sounds worth the wait to me. If I had a DD, I would do that.

Aww, that's so nice. What a great thing to do.

Are you going to have matching tees? If not, you should! Either buy them at the Disney Store or make your own using some of the DISigns here: http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=105

Also over near the Princess Fantasy Faire in DL they have the Enchanted Treats or something like that. They sell castle cookies you can decorate and my girls and I enjoyed doing that last time. Kind of a nice break from all the rushing too. Here is a pic of them decorating their cookies:

No matter what you do, I know it's going to be a great trip! Alone time with mommy is always special. :goodvibes

That all depends on what the wait is. LOL We went one time and waited about 30 minutes. Not too bad.

We went back another time, and was told the estimated wait time was at least 2 hours!!!!! :scared1: I don't think so. That's when we ended up doing the cookies, crafts, listening to the story telling, and watching the show instead. :thumbsup2

If you're going to be there for 5 days, I would go ask the first day which day/time has the shortest wait and plan it in that way! I think its definitely worth it! I found this description of it on another board (its kind of scarcastic, but I think it sounds fun!)

"Perhaps the biggest physical change coming to Disneyland to support the Year of a Million Dreams campaign is the repurposing of the existing Fantasyland Theater into something called the Disney Princess Fantasy Faire. When the Snow White show closes on Labor Day, the theater facility will undergo a frantic remodeling into a massive new meet 'n' greet concept with all of the existing bleachers and quite a bit of the permanent seating removed.

The idea is that parents will wait in line to enter a "Princess Walk" set up near the current directors booth in the theater, where there will always be three different princesses waiting to sign autographs and take pictures with the kids. Once you've run the autograph book gauntlet and had your picture taken with three princesses, you can stroll over to the old Fantasyland Theater snack bar which will now be selling cookie decorating kits to be taken to the dozen tables set up nearby. After you've decorated your official Disney Princess cookie or colored a picture or two, it's on to the "Bibbidy Bobbidy Boutique" on the opposite side of the theater. And here's where the serious cash gets doled out by parents.

Modeled after the successful Club Libby Lu concept over in Downtown Disney, official Disney makeover artists will charge all the Mommies and Daddies a fee to have their little girls be made up like their favorite Disney Princess, with clothing and accessories all for sale in addition to the charge for the makeover itself. The merchandise department will be running the Bibbidy Bobbidy Boutique, and they're already salivating at the thought of the huge profits to be mined here.

Once your little darling is all dolled up like a Disney Princess, then it's on to the Disney Princess Academy, located on the floor of the theater itself. Etiquette coaches will teach the little girls how to act and behave in a royal manner, and perhaps even offer tips on how to remove those juice box stains from the $50 gown Daddy just bought them.

And then every hour on the hour the big event occurs, the official "Disney Princess Coronation Moment." During this perfectly Disney-orchestrated emotional highpoint to the day, the little girls will all be lined up on stage, a real prince and princess will come out to greet their miniature versions fresh from the Bibbidy Bobbidy Boutique, the Disneyland Band will play a royal tune, and moms and dads will elbow each other to get the perfect shot of it all from the few rows of theater seating left in place."

Sounds like it could be an all morning event if you wanted it to be, but then you don't have to leave the park to go to Club Libby Lu, and I bet its cheaper. I also agree with getting silhouettes done on Main St. They are so cute! Also, we LOVED Minnie and Friends Breakfast at Plaza Inn when we went. It is the only character meal actually located in the park, and breakfast is my fav kind of food anyway :D (and its cheaper than lunch!) :P hehe. I have also heard about a tea party...do they still do that?! Let them pick out ears the first day, so you can all wear them the rest of the trip. Get autograph books, with five days you'll be able to get a lot of signatures!

Well, I know my girls would much rather do a meal at AG than waiting to see the Princesses at the PFF. They do like the FF but not the long lines. Those lines are insane!! I think you've got a good plan, Libby Lu, maybe add Build a Bear so they can have a special friend to help them remember? Most of all, just have fun!! :)
