Over the last couple of weeks, I've been looking through these amazing private journals/trip reports. I've LOVED looking at everyone's pictures, ideas, and wedding plans. There have been some great ideas on here on how to make a Disney trip very special.

I am getting married this October, but we aren't able to go to Disneyworld until January (that is when my Fiancés' vacation starts) for our honeymoon. I've been to Disneyworld, and LOVED IT! He never has though. I really want to make this a very special trip. I've already seen some great ideas and advice on here.

If there is something on here already like this, that is fine (...please redirect me :) )...but I thought it would be nice to have one thread dedicated to special touches and ideas on how to make a Disney honeymoon/wedding the BEST! How to make it stick out from other vacations! Everyone’s great ideas all on one thread!

Here are some of the ideas I have found so far (to start the list)...
(I think these are right)

- Grand Floridian Cafe will make personalized menus for free
- Register for your honeymoon by using this site...you get a cool tote bag (full of what by the way?) (I tried to post the link...but I still need three more posts to post links and I don't have time right now to write three meaningful posts).
- Ask your resort front desk or Theme Park Guest Relations for a set of "Just Married" buttons
- Snuggle up with your special someone while watching a complimentary Disney movie at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground.

That is all I have so far. I know that is a good start, but I just know there are so many other great ideas out there! For instance...

What are some really special places to eat (specify if they are on the dining plan or not...lol)?

Special romantic spots that a couple can go?

My Fiancé' said that we could wear t-shirts or something to let people know we are on our honeymoon (I don't quite want to do that...wear the same t-shirt all week lol)...I know there are Mickey and Minnie wedding mouse ears you can wear...but what are other ideas along that line?

Are there any other special codes that you can enter for your special day?

Anything else????

Thanks!

I would agree with the mouse ears - get the groom and bride mouse ears and wear the Just Married pins. Rumor has it you will get special treatment from cast members that way.

If you want a really delicious and special dinner try to get reservations at Victoria and Albert's at the Grand Floridian. My df and I went there for Valentine's day in 2007 and though it was certainly expensive ($200 at least for the 2 of us) it was completely worth the money for the food and the experience. It's very romantic and it's fun to dress up for dinner.

Narcoossee's is also great at the Grand Floridian but only about half the price (at least $100 bill for 2 there in my experience), Artist's Point at Wilderness lodge is great and I *think* a little less expensive than Narcoossee's.

I don't know other romantic things though. The funny thing is that b/c df and I live in Orlando we tend to do romantic things around the city and not at WDW!! :rotfl2:

One more thought! I think Jiko at Animal Kingdom Lodge is delicious and romantic!!

Definitely book reservations for Cinderella's Castle to eat and mention its your honeymoon. They treat you well in there if its your honeymoon and I believe they give you a gift.

does anyone know how to get the personilised menus at the grand floridian cafe??

I didn't know they did that. I know Victoria and Albert's has amazing menus when you eat there that you don't have to ask for - you automatically get them. I have ours from last year still (and I have the rose they gave me too! It dried out BEAUTIFULLY!).

I thought I would jump in because I'm from Iowa too! I would definietly wear the mouse ears. Also watch the fireworks from the Polynesian beach, there are hammocks there and I've heard that it is quite romantic.

Congrats on your upcoming wedding!

We went to Disneyworld last September (9/23-9/30) for our honeymoon and it was fantastic!! We did wear the wedding ears everyday that we were in the parks and it definately draws a lot of attention - fun attention that is. We received lots of free fast passes from cast members, free desserts, and lots and lots of "congrats" form cast members and the public. We didn't wear the hats hoping for any "freebies", we were just into the wedding mode....lol. My DH said he got a litle warm in the hats at times - but he kept it on anyhow, lol.

Other than the hats, you can get "Just Married" buttons which are ok... DH wore his and I put mine on my purse strap.

I would recommend making some nice dinner reservations (which you have done), but make sure you tell them when you are making reservations that it is your honeymoon. We received personalized menus, disney heart designs on tables, honeymoon desserts, etc.... so make sure you tell them :thumbsup2
Also I would HIGHLY recommend the Disney Photo Pass .... since it is your honeymoon, you will want to have tons of pictures of the two of you and what better way to do it!

BTW, September is a great time in Disney (lower lines and nice weather). But the most important tip would be to not get to stressed with having to see
everything ... really enjoy the time with your hubby and have fun!

Pixy, so I am guessing that neither of these eating places are on the dining plan? LOL! We really should splurge at least once on a nice dinner. I will have to look in to Victoria and Albert's and Narcoossee's, and a few others. Our budget is going to limit ...I think...where we can go.

DisneyBride, I've heard that Cinderella's Castle's food isn't always that good? Maybe I am thinking of a different place. I've heard that is where you go to watch the fire works too. I didn't know they gave you a little gift? Cool! Thanks!

Orange, I can't exactly remember where I read you get personalized menues (I will look here today to see where I saw that), but I think when you call just mention that it is your honeymoon and they make you personalized menues for free. Maybe I have the place wrong, or maybe they don't do that anymore? Hmmm

Tlh, thanks! I am writing down your tip about watching the fireworks from the Polynesian beach! Watching the fireworks in a hammock sounds wonderful! :)

Disney, I definelty want to wear the hats! My Fiance' doesn't seem so sure right now, but I bet when we get there he will be in the mood. I will look into the Disney Photo Pass...that is a great idea so we can get some great pictures of us. How does Disney Photo Pass work? I know I can probably look up some information :)

Thanks for all of these tips guys!

I also want to share a few other things I have came across while looking through these boards...

- Look into the Disney Chase Visa Card rewards and Sunshine Rewards (a site you go to to earn a nice amount of cash for taking surveys and other things like that...here is the link http://www.sunshinerewards.com

- I also learned to do the Disney Honeymoon registry, because you will be surprised about the amount of people that will add to that. You will find yourself being able to do things and see things that you wouldn't have had to money to do before (tours, skydiving, boating...).

- For romance wise...the Tree of Life in Animal Kingdom has lots of trails with secluded spots. :) lol

- If you are doing the Disney Dining Plan, have them put Honeymoon under ever registration and you will get lots of special touches for your meal and table.

- Also! Here is the code you can put in for the tote bag for the honeymoon registry HMRGIFT2008E

what do the mickey and minnie ears look like?

Not sure if you can really see... but, my avatar is my hubby and I in our ears. The grooms hat is a hat with ears on the side, and the bride ears are a headband (very comfy one I might add - and it actually stays in place quite well) with sequin ears and a veil in the back. :bride:

Definetly wear the ears! When you are least expecting Disney magic, it sometimes happens. V&A isn't on the dining plan but there are alot of good signature restaurants for a romantic meal. I love Jiko, Flying Fish, YSH, California Grill, Citricos and we are trying Artist Point next trip.

A couples massage is a wonderful treat at the GF spa.

The Disney website will make you free customized maps for all the parks (they take about 2-4 weeks to arrive), with just the attractions you are interested in.

I've heard that the chef's table at Victoria and Alberts is quite romantic, if you are very adventuresome food-wise. Narcoossee's will be a lot less expensive, but I've heard that you can watch both fireworks and the water parade from that location. I think that restaurant might actually be on the DDP. Le Cellier gets high marks too, but reservations seem to be hard to come by.

Typhoon Lagoon offers surfing lessons before the park opens on certain days. I thought that would be great because it's the largest wave pool in the U.S. with perfect waves every 90 seconds, heated water, and no salt. It's like surfing without all the actual inconvenience of nature, lol:lmao: .

I'm convincing my husband to get the groom's ears because they will be perfect to use on a snowman in years to come. Afterall, who wears top hats any more?

If you don't want to wear tshirts all the time, there are matching Disney outfits that you can find on ebay. They are usually Hawaiian theme, but the dress is like a sundress. If you get PhotoPass (you save $30 if you preorder the CD), you can get a Grand Floridian photo shoot for about $40, I think.

Have fun planning!

Hello all! I'm planning an at-home Disney wedding for July and a honeymoon to WDW in September. Here are a few things I've come across:

-For favors, go to www.discountmugs.com. You can personalize almost any type of glass possible, and other stuff, too. Personally, I'm interested in the pint glasses. They have a Mickey/Minnie or Cinderella clipart to personalize stuff with, or you can submit your own. (Haven't checked, but I'm assuming since they use Disney that you can use your own Disney design/clipart.) Minimum order is 12, and you have to buy in multiples of 12.

-I also saw Disney cookies at Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/Color-Cookie-..._sr_2?ie=UTF8&s=grocery&qid=1210368989&sr=8-2 These would be good for kids or adults. For kids, I liked the real Color-a-Cookie http://store.partyimagineers.com/mimoclcoco1.html.

-For centerpieces, I'm using the Mickey vase and Mickey platter (both ceramic) from disneystore.com. http://disneyshopping.go.com/webapp...07&categoryId=21014&catalogId=10007&langId=-1
http://disneyshopping.go.com/webapp...d=-1&categoryId=21014&catalogFromSearch=10007
I'm going to put red roses in the vases on 5 tables and red votive candle holders (and candles) on the platters on 4 tables. My mom's making a centerpiece placemat for each similar to the one in the picture. (The vases were a steal at $6.99 a month ago, still a good price at $9.99. Platters I got for $14.99, and now they're $9.99!) Also, be forewarned... when they shipped, they put them all in a huge box and didn't secure the platters, and every one was chipped. After calling, though, they sent UPS to pick up the box for free to replace. The second round, they all survived and were much better packaged. Don't pay for return shipping like regular returns.

-I'm also using the basic Mickey/Minnie cake topper. http://www.laughingplacestore.com/images/products/1704L.jpg which I picked up at Disneyland for $20 in February.

-Ordered red, white, and black Mickey candy confetti. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/31GVCJKHM0L._AA160_.jpg Not sure what I'm going to do with it yet. Maybe decorate the cake, or just sprinkle them on the tables (who says you have to eat it?)

-Ordered invitations from invitationconsultants.com. http://www.invitationconsultants.com/invitation.aspx?p_invitationitem=KPN8885 These are really cute. They forgot to send the sheer overlays at first, but as soon as I told them, they shipped them right away and I got them 3 days later. Assembly required, but really simple. Nice quality. Choose your words, font, and font color. I didn't get the enclosures, but I did get the matching informal cards. They are extremely small and SEE-THROUGH. If I write inside, you'll see it through the front. So I might cut off the back and use them as favor tags instead (has just our names on them).

-I'm also doing the honeymoon registry. Since we just sent out the invites, no one has contributed yet. Hopefully it works out well. I also applied and got the Disney Visa from Chase (when I signed up, I got a $40 credit. I saw $50 advertised recently, though.) They give you 1% Disney Dream Dollars. After you reach a minimum, you can request a gift card, and they apply the balance to it. Then, you just add the funds to that card. I used it for my centerpieces on disneystore.com.

-One thing I found that I love (but am most likely not doing) is Edible Arrangements. http://www.ediblearrangements.com/A...=1&StateID=&City=&Date=&Category=46&Occasion= They recently added Mickey pineapples, and I'm hoping you can customize your fruit bouquet. I was going to get 2 medium ones (one for each drink table) for 90 guests. But they do get expensive. (I have had them at work and at my mom's graduation party. The fruit is fresh and delicious, and the chocolate dipped ones are SOOOO good. I've never heard anyone who's eaten them complain about it, except for the price.) Judging from their website, they have stores in 49 states, Canada, and the UK.

Please feel free to alter or downright steal these ideas!

Oh Aymekai - I love it! We looked everywhere at WDW for our cake topper and ended up with an alabaster wedding Mickey and Minnie from Arribas in DTD (we live locally) It was too heavy for our cake and ended up being a "cake sidder" :rotfl2:

We loved it anyway;but wish I had checked LaughingPlace since I am a regular there, arg!

Sounds like a very fun wedding, and you can keep all the stuff for parties later. Smart girl!:thumbsup2

what do the mickey and minnie ears look like?

Here you go. Not straight on but it is to cute not to share.

(full of what by the way?)

They didn't have any tote bags at the time I registered (two months ago). They had a little disclaimer at the time in itty bitty text that I didn't see until I registered. I hope they got more so you can get one!

I heard some people mentioning getting buttons and things like that and my wedding planner has not made mention of anything like that to me.:confused3
I am going to be getting hitched there and spending what my family feels is a small fortune(we are paying for it all! and if there are perks I'd like to know.
Why don't they tell you????
Although I did think it was sweet of them to give us annual passes!
I missed out on the planning session and did over the phone and regret not seeing Franks and testing our food, but whatever. I just feel like I'm spending a lot and not "REALLY" knowing if it's worth it.:headache:
Please help me and tell me if I'm getting a raw deal by having my disney planners not telling/knowing about the perks...? :rotfl2:
This is my first and last marriage so I'd like to make the best of it and I already had a dress fiasco with Davids Bridal b/c my coordinator did not know her product line.:sad2: I'd like a little special treatment for what we're paying you know? :wizard:
WHAT IS IN IT FOR ME is my bottom line?

Any help is greatly appreciated.:worship:

Thanks-
Angie
