What are the "special touches" that you expect to find at the resorts? We usually stay off-site and rent a house, but we are going to try a cabin at FW next year.

I've heard about Mickey's wake-up calls and towel animals by Mousekeeping, but what other little touches do you think make staying at the resorts to special?

I've only stayed at ASMusic, but I liked the room decor - the drapes that look like sheet music, and the "star" lights. I also loved that you could shop your butt off and have everything delivered (FREE) to your hotel room!! That was sooooo awesome when I shopped through the World Showcase. Hidden Mickeys are neat to find too (I found some in the sheet music drapes). I just like that it's a hotel, but it's "Disney".

While towel animals are not guarenteed (we never got any at the cabins) many people say they get them.

That said, we LOVED the cabins. It is hard to explain how wonderful staying on site was for us. We felt like we "belonged" at Disney.

The Bedspreads had "hidden mickeys". The cabins are decorated in Wild West/Nature theme. The entire campground was just a feast for the eyes between nature and Disney theming. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

And if you haven't requested a particular loop yet, might I recommend the 2500 loop?
We requested non-smoking, 2500 loop, near the bus stop, and ended up taking a cabin 1/3 of the way into the loop so we could check in sooner. Not a problem!
It is a smaller loop, the bus stop is at its entrance, and the pool/laundry is right next to it.
No cabin is a very long walk to the bus stop, like walking half a block.
Buses are great, but familiarize yourself with the routes and destinations ahead of time.
This website was very accurate when we went: http://www.disneycampers.com/Fort_Wilderness/FW_Transportation.htm

We stayed at the Ft. Wilderness cabins in early Oct. I loved it! We got tons of towel animals and little dolls made of towels, too cute! She even made litte towel bats and had them hanging in the bathroom with a little rubberband. I will be staying at the cabins again in the future.

We stayed @ All Star Movies in October. My 5 year old daughter brought two stuffed bears from the movie Brother Bear with her on the trip. We left them in the room during the day. One night when we got back, the bears were on the foot of one of the beds, sitting on a pillow, the remote control was between them and they were "watching" old disney cartoons. On another day, we cam eback to the room and her bears were sitting on either side of the sink, each sitting on a folded towel, one was holding a new bar of mickey soap and the other was holding her toothbrush holder. It was so cute and she loved it and asked how the bears did it.

After the first day there, she told us to make sure we let her answer the phone for the wake up calls.

You can set it up to charge items to your room card key, and you can purchase stuff in the park and have it sent back to your resort, instead of carrying it around.

Also, depending on the package, you can have your park ticket put on your card key, one less thing to carry around.
