My family is sailing on the Disney Magic out of Miami in just two short weeks!!!! We have been on a couple cruises before, but never at Halloween time.

We have heard and seen some special things to pack for our trip. For example, things to decorate our door, sparkling apple cider for the debarking celebration, bringing a picture frame for the characters to sign and for this trip our kids Halloween costumes. :-)

What fun, different or/and necessary items do YOU pack and/or request to make your Disney Cruise extra special?? (Can I still pack a case of water in my suitcase as I have in the past with new drink policy?)

Thank you in advance for all of your help!! DisBoards ROCK!! :-)

I believe you mean embarking (beginning of cruise) not debarking (end of cruise) for your celebration.

There is no longer a signature service offered for items. Unless you just plan on carrying the frame around to the various character meets to ask them to sign. One note, some characters are not able to actually hold a pen for signatures.

I always make sure I have the pirate costumes for our DCL cruises.

Any beverages brought onboard must be in your carry on bags. Beverages in your checked bags may be confiscated.

Thanks. That's what I meant.

Bummer you can't take your frame to be signed anymore. That is my favorite souvenir from our last trip.

Any other suggestions you could offer? Thanks again for your help.

We're going on the the 28th on the Magic! Super Excited. We did a Halloween on the High Seas last year. There will be a Halloween night and a Pirate Night so bring both costumes. As previous poster mentioned they stopped the signature services. Not all of these are special but are items we take every time. Princess Dresses if you have a girl and she wants photos with the Princesses. We have magnets for our doors, we bring our fish extender. We aren't participating in a group b/c I couldn't find one for this cruise but I will hit target or walmart and the dollar section and get a bunch of halloween type goodies to drop in when the kids don't notice. Last year I had fake fangs, little goblins, fake spider rings etc. Nothing substantive in cost but kids loved it. I would say your alcohol but the new policy limits that perk. We always do one coordinated outfit for pictures and try to make that our yearly family picture. I bring my own beach toys so we don't get hit as hard at Castaway with the "I wants". Or course we live in Miami so luggage on a plane is not an issue. Although if you are coming in from out of town via plane you can hit a Walgreens in Miami, they beach sections with cheap sand toys you can toss at the end of the trip. Cheaper than castaway. Bottled Water.

things to decorate our door
You do mean magnets, right? No adhesives allowed for affixing decorations.

Be sure to bring sunscreen (it's costly to purchase onboard).

And, don't try to do everything. Check the Navigator each night (bring different colored highlighters for each person) and mark those things that are most important for you to do. Take some time to just sit and watch the sea go by (remember it's a vacation).

As for bringing bottled water, it's not really necessary. The water onboard the ship is process the same as most bottled waters (reverse osmosis and filtered). Just bring some refillable water bottles and use the tap in your room to fill them.

I don't bring a ton of bottled water but usually a 6 pack. This is not b/c I won't use the water onboard, we do but then I can refill the bottles and take them to castaway and with us to Nassau and have a few on hand. If the bottles get a junky or filled up with sand then I don't worry and just throw them out.
