We leave april 31 and our first day at ssr is may 1st. Im looking for special things to surprise ds 10, dd 7 on thursday, ds 4. We are also looking to start new traditions this is our 3rd trip but have gone with my husbands family each time.

Perhaps you could take the kids over to FW to Trails end for supper, followed by the campfire thingy. Or take them on a carriage ride after dinner and let them play until the electric boat parade floats by. Or you could go over to WL to Whispering Canyon Cafe for a rip-snortin' kick-off, followed by a boat ride over to FW.

Or you could just order a pizza and eat it by the pool--very relaxing after a hard day's traveling. :wizard:

We are staying at ssr and have never been on a carriage ride while we were here. How do we take care of that I don't even know where the boat parade is but it sounds really cool. Thank you so much. These all sound like awsome idea. Have you done any of these.

I'm a big believer in doing the less expensive, family-oriented fun stuff. I love going over to Ft Wilderness because it is so laid back, especially for the kids. Even a walk around the grounds with a flashlight is fun. My younger two love riding teh boat launch--they don't care where! The carriage are near Pioneer Hall; don't know how to go about reserving one, but I'm sure someone will come along who has that info. There is a boat parade about 9: or 9:30pm that goes by the beach. We happened to catch it one time when we were eating at Trails End. The campfire is great and you can roast marshmallows and have a sing-along with Chip & Dale.

thanks sounds great anyone have just special little things they enjoy doing in the parks every time they go

Our traditions our we always go to DTD our first nite when we arrive and then end the trip there too. We also always book a character meal at Chef Mickey's at the CR. We also include a nite at the Boardwalk to walk around and enjoy the atmosphere.

Our only tradition, is our DD has to have her picture taken on the troll in Norway. It's a great way to see how much she has grown between each trip. Also, it's not a trip to Disney without a Mickey ice cream bar and Zebra Domes from AKL!!

Chef Mickey's - complete with the super expensive pictures so we can see how the family has changed! Then we hit the monorail for a loop (making sure to sit up front with the pilot). It is a great way to start the trip & get into the spirit!!

We take DS's picture by one of the dinosaurs on the Cretacious Trail at AK (he's a big dinosaur nut). Last trip we started out by having dinner at Chef Mickey's then rode the Monorail around for a while. :)

Hi Larklynn, Lime green is the "official" color here at the DIS! Most people will wear some kind of lime green ... maybe ribbon if they want to meet other "disers". We are staying at POFQ. I know you will enjoy ssr. It looks really awesome!!!! We plan to go take a look at it when we are there! Gotta check out the new resort!
