Special Rate Offer for DLR Hotels

Just received a mail offer with special rates for all 3 DLR hotels (similar to other posts about e-mail offer). Just booked packafe through Costco today at the Hyatt Regency Orange County in a kids suite -- I figured the rate for that room at about $200/night. But with this mailer, can get the GCH for $247 -- wondering if I should spend extra $$ and switch to GCH. Any thoughts/opinions?

I just posted about our first stay at GCH on the GCH superthread. It was awesome. I'd take it in a heartbeat for $247!

Do it! May I ask if the offer you got required a PIN code? What dates is the offer good for?

cpster - That offer is a PIN code offer, specifially intended for the person to whom it was e-mailed. It was obtained by Saving a hotel offer at the current crazy rates shown on the DLR website in the My Disneyland account, and then waiting for them to send a better offer. The PPH is $163 (at least in my version and usedmedia's version) and the DLH is, I think, $186.

alphie1991's PIN offer may be slightly different in price for the PPH and DLH, but the GCH rate of $247 is the same as the one some of the rest of us have received.

The dates of the offers differ for all of us, depending on the dates plugged in by the person with the My Disneyland account. Mine is for October. Others got November/December dates because that's what they saved.

Yes, Sherry it is the same offer others got and it is from saving an offer on the website because the mailer was to the Hickox family and mentioned coming in November. The dates start toward the end of November, before and after the dates I had been searching for. It is confusing though figuring out the end dates, etc. but the reservation person I talked was helpful. I went ahead and did a reservation for the GCH standard view room -- they will hold it for 7 days without a deposit. And if I want to book it/confirm it I have to call within the 7 days and give my credit card info and they will charge the first night + tax -- so with the tax it's about $289 a night. But you have until 6 days before arrival to cancel and you pay the balance when you get there. Since it's our first time taking DD and it's the holidays and GCH is supposed to have a great atmosphere at the holidays, I'm pretty sure I will do the deposit in a week.

I definitely think you should use the PIN! The regular rack rate for the GCH is over $500!!!:faint: Also, you're lucky, because some of our other DIS'ers who did this Saved Offers trick that I have been recommending all over the DIS have not yet received a PIN. You were one of the lucky ones to get one! Usedmedia got an offer, and I just got my second Saved Offers PIN code the other day (although mine doesn't actually include the dates I requested, which is odd).

I'm continuing to advise that people do the Saved Offers trick because it seems to work for enough people that it's worthwhile, but they definitely hold out on sending them to everyone.

You could certainly still enjoy the holiday atmosphere in the GCH even without staying there - that's what I do - but it's nice to be right in the thick of the ambiance so you can just come right downstairs from your room and sit by the fireplace if you want to!

Thanks Sherry for the tip. I have been saving my trips and even get the emails saying check out your resort, etc, but no PIN yet

Do you think the chances for a PIN valid for the last week of July are slim?

I would think that a PIN code would be less likely for a time that DLR expected it to be hugely busy, like July or any time in summer. What they may do is, once it gets really close to July (and that will be soon), if they still have some rooms available then send you an e-mail with a good offer at the last minute.

Yep - some of our DIS'ers just received those same e-mails like what you got with the 'check out your resort and the photos we chose for you' e-mails, and there are even mentions of a PIN code in that e-mail...but no PIN was showing! The wording is even odd, as it seems to suggest they have stayed onsite before, when they haven't!

For some reason the October dates I wanted were not included in my PIN code e-mail. Mine only includes the second half of that month, so it leads me to believe many of the DLR hotel rooms are already booked for the first half of October or DLR is anticipating large crowds during the first two weeks.

Did it tell you the prices for the other hotels? or just GCH just curious I have saved offers :goodvibes and am wondering if the pin code is good for all the DLH's

I received one today too, for September.

The rates are from $156 at PPH, $169 at DLH, and $231 at GCH.

I called and they were already out of the $169 rooms at the DLH (but still had the $156 rooms at PPH). I didn't ask about the lowest priced rooms at the GCH because even that great price still is out of our price range. I did, however, book us in at the Disneyland Hotel at $195 a night. That's still a pretty good deal, right?

The most common offer going around is the one I mentioned above - $163 for PPH, $186 for the DLH and $247 for the GCH. Those are great rates compared to what the rack rates would be. The PIN is good for any of those hotels if the offer lists those rates.

DisSarahK is one of the few who received an offer with rates even lower than the common PIN the rest of us are getting (possibly because her dates are September and that is a less busy time of year)!

There have been some PIN offers that have been sent out (triggered by the Saved trick) which only featured one hotel and not the other two, but those seem to be less frequent. Most of these special PIN's are for all 3.

I think $195 is pretty decent for DLH, considering what the regular rack rate would be, which is crazy. I wonder who has been getting the cheaper PPH and GCH offers, as well as the $169 DLH offers, because no one on this forum has mentioned it! We all seem to be getting the DLH PIN for $186, or not getting a PIN at all! Maybe those Micechatters have gotten the $169 offer and used them all up!:rotfl2:

Congratulations! You're the first one I've heard of on this site who has gotten a cheaper than usual Saved Offers PIN code!:thumbsup2

Congratulations on the PIN code!!! I would most definately use it! I am crossing my fingers for the $247 for GCH in December and have my deal saved....I check on it often....just to make sure that its still saved there :) I swear I will book it the moment the PIN is in my hand!

Hm, curious. I logged into mine to see what I could save. I've never even known that I could play around with itineraries that way-and the booking portion of the site is down for maintenance. We have never been able to stay on site, but for any of those prices I would MAKE it happen, LOL!

This trip is the first trip where I have bothered making a profile on the Disneyland site--so they have this listed as our "first" trip to Disneyland even though it really is our third. The PIN code mailer even congratulates me on my first trip to Disneyland. I suspect that might have something to do with the lower rates.

I did your saved trip trick, Sherry, and I did get an offer. It was unfortunately for dates that we couldn't use. You mentioned elsewhere, but they must be busy the first week in October because the offer didn't start until 10/16 when my kids are back in school. Some day, I hope to get back onsite. I LOVED the Grand last fall but just can't pay what they want.

OP, I would definitely try the GCH if you can swing it. That is a great rate for a great hotel, though I would still have a hard time paying $247!

Yes, exactly - that's the same date I got. My PIN offer does not start until October 16, and it only lasts until October 31. But usedmedia's offer (with the same exact rates that were in mine) covers a wider spectrum of dates, all the way into December. Weird.:confused3

I definitely think that either DLR has already seen a surge of bookings for the first 2 weeks of October and that's why you and I got only the last 2 weeks in our offers, OR they are anticipating big crowds in the first half of the month and need to fill more rooms in the second half.

Well, I'm glad to see that at least the Saved Offer trick is working for the most part and that most folks are getting PIN's (not everyone, but most folks seem to be getting them). Their database/system seems to be askew, though, in that it is sending out e-mails to people who have never stayed onsite (such as NewbieMouse), but are indicating in the wording that they have been a hotel guest in the past and this will be a repeat visit!:rotfl2: And then, alternately, their system is sending out offers to previous guests (like DisSarahK), but the wording in the e-mails indicates that this will be their first ever visit!:confused3:rotfl2:

hi,

can someone explain the "saved offer trick" to me? i assume i need to sign up somewhere. would love more info as we were thinking about GCH but just too expensive right now!

thanks so much.

So, the PIN codes come in the mail? Like, snail mail, mail? Wow. Did the offer come relatively soon after saving the offer, or was it quite some time between? I am insanely curious! Total newbie!

Mine was in an email from Disney Destinations. I also received a mail offer, but it was completely different.

The saved offer trick: simply go to Disneyland.com and plan a trip and then you have the option to save the offer. Save it and don't book it at the outrageous (IMO) price and sometimes they will email or mail a better offer.
