I've made reservations for dinner at Chef Mickey's on Xmas Eve :santa:... and have told WDW that we are celebrating my DBF's belated birthday (we fly 2 days after he turns 22).

Now that I've told them, what can I expect to happen?

Also, DBF and I are surprising my family of 8 with breakfast at Donald's Tusker House a few days after Xmas, and again, I've told WDW that we're simply celebrating Xmas, but not put any names on the celebration. Will they do anything special for us then? I'm not expecting anything, on this occasion, but it would be nice to have a tiny bit of Pixie Dust :goodvibes

Thanks in advance :thumbsup2

I would not go expecting anything special. Otherwise, you might be disappointed. Sometimes, restaurants will add some extra pixie dust, and other times they might not. No rhyme or reason really.

IF something happens, things you might see are:
Confetti on your table
Personalized Menus ('Happy Birthday _____!')
Candle in your dessert and/or write something written on the plate
Free Cupcake
Special certificate noting your special occasion

Oh cool, I'm not really expecting much, but it would be nice for DBF to be suitably embarrassed :lmao:

Chef Mickey's is a very busy restaurant and since you'll be celebrating your boyfriend's birthday on Christmas eve you will probably have to create your own celebration. He might get a cupcake and candle, but probably not much more than that. If you want a celebration, you'll have to plan it yourself.

There will probably be even less chance of any special pixie dust at Tusker House since telling them that you're "celebrating Christmas" probably applies to most people who are in DisneyWorld at that time.

We went for our 25th anniversary trip last year, which was noted on our reservations. We also wore our buttons most days.

We got cupcakes, confetti and a signed card from Pooh & Friends - in fact, we got a little something special at every TS meal EXCEPT the one on our actual anniversary! They knew about it because the woman checking us in wished us a happy anniversary and mentioned that it was the actual anniversary day. Somehow the waiter never got the message or didn't care, even though the place was half empty. (This was at Kona.) It was kind of comical, really, and I didn't mention it because by that point (midway into the trip) we had a stockpile of cupcakes back at the resort and didn't need any more.

So don't expect much, you may get a cupcake or a card from the characters, or you may get nothing.

If you want to make sure it is special, why not order a cake? We Did DD's birthday at CM last year, and ordered her a cake. The pastry chef at the contemporary, Brian, was GREAT to work with, and we got a fabulous cake. Minnie came to our table for the cake presentation and singing of Happy Birthday. It was a 6 inch cake and right at $50, but way more that 3 of us could eat. It would have easily fed 6-8. We shared with the table next to us.
