Special Occasion dining

Our Sept. 22-29 trip is in celebration of our dear friend's 5th healthy year after a kidney transplant. I want to make a special dining reservation for the actual anniversary of the surgery, as he loves good food.

It needs to be kid friendly still though, as our 20 month old will be with us.

I was thinking possibly Boma, which sounds unique and totally different than what any of us can have at home.

Any other ideas? Also, do they do cakes or desserts for special occasions?

We splurged our last night and went to Fulton's Crabhouse at Downtown Disney. Me, DH, and our 2 year old DD. We had reservations and got in quickly once we arrived. The meal itself took a long time, but DD did great. We took her food (toddler meat sticks and fruit cup---her standard dining our fare). We really enjoyed it. It is very expensive, but the food was wonderful.

I don't think you should worry about restaurants not being kid friendly..Its Disney after all. I think only "Victoria and Alberts" recommends no children. We've been all over Disney with DD at various ages. We had a birthday dinner at Coral Reef when she was 8 months, Engagement party at California Grill at 8 months. Birthdays in Italy at 18 months. France. Birthday Dinner again at the California Grill at 2.5 years (even staying to watch the fireworks at 9PM).

The waiters/waitresses are usually very good at entertaining children.

All restaurants can do cakes and such, just need to tell them when you check in for your reservation. At the coral reef, I hear you can arrange for the divers to hold signs in the tank..I think I'm going to try that for DHs 40th birthday.

Thanks for the ideas! I had heard that some of the nicer restaurants are a bit less "family" and I don't want to interrupt anyone's fine dining experience, so I was a little worried.

He lives in So. California, we live on the coast, so I wanted to stay away from seafood or obviously the California place.

We do not plan on being in a park that particular day, any other places in DD, DB, or the resorts that would offer a unique experience?

I ate at Spoodles on the Boardwalk, I think that's the name, when staying at the Swan on a business trip...alone (WDW, all expenses paid, alone  !) it was a nice experience even by myself, maybe we can go there.

Yachtsman steakhouse in the Yacht club is nice. (a bit pricey) We had my cousins rehersal dinner at Ohana's in the Polynesian...they have cute entertainment. You may want to check out the restaurant forum for more ideas.

my opinion is children are expected at Disney. We tried to go to Le Bistro de Paris in Epcot's France for a nice dinner just the two of us once and we were surrounded by babies (and of course missed our own.) Its rather silly to get upset about it when you realize where you are. If we wanted adults only we would go to the south of france or something :lmao: :rotfl:

Just my opinion of course. Have fun!
